Not a great pub which is unfortunate because it could be. Food was all fried basic pub food, the metcalfe fries nothing special. They have a couple of good beers but generally a poor selection. Nice patio location but the super budget funiture isnt the best. The service is friendly but inexperienced. Seems like it needs a new manager and a new chef.
A beautiful patio in the summer. Now, the Metcalfe is a bit of an institution in Elora. Right at the foot of Metcalfe Sttreet, the shady patio offers a view of busy, artsy Mill Street and the old bridge over the Grand River. Across the street from this excellent pub and restaurant , a new sculpture park is being created. This is truly becoming a beautiful spot. Today, as we sipped our Wellington beers at a patio table, looking at the many people walking by on this Canada Day week-end,, we felt happy and privileged. The Metcalfe serves fairly predictable pub fare, but the food is tasty and the service friendly and alert. Perfect for a hot summer afternoon!
