I may give it another chance due to the great reviews but I was not impressed with my first experience. I got Shanghai noodles and my boyfriend got beef vermicelli. Both were flavourless. The pork in my dish was fatty and unappetizing. I ended up picking them out. Noodles seemed overcooked. Egg rolls were decent though.
The service was very slow. After ordering we waited about 50minutes before our first dish came. We had to ask 3 times for water which also took a while to arrive. It was a busy night and we didn’t have anywhere to be so we excused the slow service in hopes the food would redeem them. It didn’t. The fried noodle was nice but nothing special, the general taos chicken was nice, not quite as crunchy or spicy as I’m used to but it was different and tasty. The baby bokchoi in garlic sauce was probably the favourite while the beef and broccoli and the sizzling beef steak weren’t great. Even if the service had been spot on, the food wasn’t as good as some other options within walking distance.
Excellent. Friendly, clean and delicious food. The beef fried noodles were a delight – tender meat and crispy noodles. Try the snow pea tips in garlic which are fantastic!
You should definitely come here if you want authentic Chinese food. Definitely not the crappy takeout quality – great for a sit down dinner.
I’m not sure where the 4+ rating comes from. The food was very greasy without good flavour. Not even close to quality Cantonese food. Would not recommend and would not return, sorry.
Best Chinese food I have had in Ottawa in the 2 years that I have lived here. Prices were reasonable, and service was excellent. When I asked to get a dish without shrimp, they offered to add chicken instead. In my experience most other restaurants would happily just save the shrimp and charge full-price for the dish. Fortune cookies were spot-on.
I used to be a loyal fan of Sea King, but their quality has gone very downhill over the past 2 years or so. I have been looking for a new favorite Chinese place in Ottawa for Dim Sum, and this place is definitely in the running for my current favorite.The service was very slow, but that was apparently due to a mix up in the kitchen. We had stood up and were about to walk out when the food finally came out, and it was well worth the wait, everything was excellent.
