I don’t find anything especially unique about Jadeland. The food isn’t terrible, but it also doesn’t blow my mind. The dishes were hit and miss for me – salt & pepper fried calamari was excellent, as was the soup. However, the General Tao chicken had a strange, off-putting taste to it and on the greasy side. The restaurant is small and cramped – service can be slow, especially when it’s very busy. I’ve had much better Chinese restaurants that I would recommend over Jadeland any day, that are much more consistent in quality and noteworthy of their own accord.
Disappointing. Based on the rating, we had high expectations of the dinner we would receive at Jadeland. Ordered: cashew chicken, Szechuan beef, chicken and veg dish, and rice. Basic meal. Nothing was particularly wrong with the food, it was just not as flavourful as alternative Chinese restaurants that we have dined at in Ottawa. Service was acceptable. Restaurant was adequately clean, but the group did leave smelling of fish, which was unfortunate.
