I should have known…the wobbly table and rickety chair would be foreshadowing to the meal ahead of me…a $100 meal that was overpriced for underwhelming results…You serve two small pieces of bread for the table, which was ice cold, and then you cheap out by charging $2 for an extra basket of bread? The food overall was trying too hard. Too many competing flavours and everything just left an oily taste in my mouth. A signature dish (sweet potato gnocchi, bacon, brussel sprouts sage, apple, maple syrup, shaved reggiano) was interesting with the first couple of bites, but became too rich, too soon. Same with the crispy brussel sprouts. Too much was going on. And did I mention the oily aftertaste with all of the food? Not worth the money at all.
We went here for VDAY based on the positive reviews on here. We made the mistake of not checking the menu before going, so I can’t fully fault the restaurant. But I will say the menu is very short and not a lot of options. For an Italian restaurant there was some standard italian dishes missing (no veal, no chicken, no standard pasta). The pricing is also very steep. A dinner for 2 was north of $100. The food we did get was good, and the service was good. The restaurant also has a really nice atmosphere.
