Great Service but TERRIBLE server. The quality of sushi here is amazing. I am a local and this is my favorite restaurant in town. Much better than any other sushi places I’ve encountered. However, there is one server that has never been nice to me or any of the guests I’ve brought. I witnessed today her refusing to sit a couple by a window that fit four because of the potential to get busy. They said they wanted privacy to talk and didn’t want to sit at the table really close to another, yet she still refused. Every time I’ve been I am thoroughly disappointed by the service, the waitress named Lisa gives. At first I thought she was just having a bad day but it seems to be like this every time I go, which is several times a month. I really like this restaurant and most things about it. Other than this specific server its an AMAZING place. Will always return.
Best restaurant in town with consistency and quick, fast easy service! You can never go wrong with a maki set, fills you up or decent to share for a lighter lunch! Great establishment
In collingwood for one night? Don’t miss the hungry sumo. Whole meal was fresh and delish. We loved the spicy tuna roll.
Delicious. Two friends and I ate here for dinner the other day. We hadn’t been here before but had heard good word of mouth reviews from people all over the county, as well as reading many great reviews online. Service was fast, friendly and attentive! The staff was knowledgeable and not rude when we couldn’t pronounce food properly or still couldn’t decide what to order off their menu (Everything sounded so delicious we just couldn’t decide). Their recommendation was the Mekugea Sushi Boat (56 pieces) that came with Miso Soup and Green Salad for all of us. We were quite hungry and so the size was perfect. The Miso Soup was hot and what we all expected, you cant really go wrong with Miso Soup. The Green Salad was a surprise. The dressing was complex, flavorful, light and delicious. It complemented the salad very well. The server gladly found out the different flavors from the kitchen when we enquired. I could eat that salad all day. The Sushi Boat was beautifully presented. A good selection of Nigiri and Maki: Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Butterfish, Snapper, Ebi, California rolls, Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon and a Dynamite roll. The sushi rice was the best I’ve ever tasted! The fish was very fresh and melted in your mouth. Will be coming back here. We all agreed there really isn’t any point in going to any other sushi places (locally at least) since this one seems so good!
Always a great meal. The Hungry Sumo is our favourite sushi restaurant, hands down better than any of the all you can eat places in Barrie. The quality is great, the food is incredibly fresh and the spicy tuna roll is the best we’ve ever had.
We ordered the sushi boat and the service was quite fast for the large amount of food. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient, and the food was well plated and prepared. Also, the tempura ice cream was delicious and not very greasy.Amazing food for a very reasonable price, you’ve gotta try it!
Had the Midori combo for lunch with my wife and it was fantastic. Split the ‘boat’ with her and were thoroughly satisfied. Service and price were great as well.
