Went to this place for lunch. Ordered a latka, and a centre street special.Ordered the old fashioned ,mild, medium fat meat. The waiter took the order and after a short wait, brought :A very well fried latka, that was cold in the middle.A platter with lots of fries, coleslaw, pickle, red pepper and a sandwich with meat. Nice looking dish. The meat was oozing with grease, making the bread soggy. The flavor was NOT mild. Why bother to ask. After half an hour (while the waiter was on break),the Hostess, kept on looking if I was finished. Not being able to wait, she aproach me while I was eating the fries and ask me if I was finished. That was rude.I told her that by her standard I must have finished. She just took the dishes.I paid my bill and gave the waiter ,while he was eating, his tip.Terrible experience. Not going back.Inv.# 115499

I’ve just had the Montreal smoked meat sandwich, no sides (coleslaw, pickles, fries etc) so I can only speak to the sandwich, and it was delicious. The meat was so tender it almost melts in your mouth. I can’t wait to go back

I always get the smoked meat sandwich when I’m in the area. As far as deli’s go I believe that this could be one of the best in the GTA. Their always quick in the service even though it’s crazy busy most of the time at lunch.

Coming from Montreal I had a huge craving for a decent Smoked meat sandwich and was told this place is pretty decent. I would have to agree its definitely not on par with Schwartz/Main/Petes in the flavor/texture or even size department but pretty tasty none the less. Wife and the other sandwich with lots of different meats in there and it was also pretty good. Do avoid their chicken and noodle soup as its just chicken broth with pasta (no chicken or veggies). Their coleslaw and fries were also pretty good. Service-wise it was very good, friendly staff prompt service, and remembered requests. My only gripe is that its definitely on the pricy side vs. traditional deli joints by a couple bucks.

Meat……..Fatty and Hand Cut Smoked Meat………I just love my quickie lunch experience at Centre Street Deli. Great and attentive services! Yes here at a Deli!- Greeted and seated right when I walked in!- Ordered taken immediately- Checked on a few times and waiter ensure I have everything I needed- I said I want mustard… I was offered 4 different kinds!- Water glasses always topped up! Medium Fatty Smoked Meat Sandwiches is AWESOME! The smoked meat was hot and melt in your mouth tender… and full of flavours too. The coleslaw is light and refreshing went so well with my meat…I was in and out of the restaurant within 20 minutes and at peak lunch hour when the Centre Street Deli was at its full capacity!!I love the deco here too. Simple, traditional and with the old day charm. Now I know where to get my piece of meat when I am in the area!! And the more I think about it, I think I will even drive here when I am not in the area!

I actually came across a travel book in the Library claiming Centre Street as one of the top 10 delis in North America! (Schwartz’s in Montreal was No.1 above other NY Delis!)Anyways, Centre Street Deli is a local gem in the quaint area of Vaughn. The place itself is much larger than I thought from the outside. The interior has the old classic diner look and feel (but with much higher prices). The menu is quite large and has all the deli favorites straight from the counter across the room. Here’s a place where you can be get some matzoh ball soup, cabbage rolls, or Montreal Smoked Meat platters and sandwiches. Yum!I ordered the Old Fashioned (Classic Montreal Smoked Meat – $8.50), while my friend ordred the Mild Smoked Meat sandwich ($8.50) and a cup of chicken noodle soup ($4.95). The chicken noodle soup was really just noodles swimming in small cup of chicken broth. Not very good as they don’t even feign attempts at procuring any chicken. Keep the money and spend it on some coleslaw or fries! The Mild Smoked Meat was a lighter version of the Montreal. Couldn’t describe it as my friend wouldn’t allow me a scrap to taste. The Old Fashioned is the classic deli sandwich you expect to see when walking into these delis. Rye Bread stacked with Montreal Smoked Meat. The will ask you if you like your sandwich medium or lean (with or without fat). I had to get mine medium and ordered some hot mustard on the side. The sandwich is stacked high and the meat was thick cut and great. The meat was very peppery and the mustard is a perfect condiment to go alongside it. Rye bread is fantastic because it’s thin, yet strong enough to hold the sandwich together (well…almost strong enough).I enjoyed the sandwich, but I guess my expectations were a bit high having had deli sandwiches in NY and Montreal. The sandwich was a bit on the smaller side and was definitely pricier than its counterparts from the more renowned cities of North America, but for being in North Toronto, this place will satisfy any person’s cravings. cheatdayeveryday.com
