2018/12/271950s diner, not so 1950s prices. We stopped at Gordos Diner for lunch as we headed on a day trip out of the city. It was almost 12:30 on the Thursday after Christmas, and the restaurant was less than half full. The decor was virtually identical to an Ontario diner chain, so we speculated that maybe it was once part of that chain. As we looked over the menu, both of us noticed that the prices seems generally higher than similar restaurants. SWBMO ordered the 3 piece Chicken Finger meal under the Classic Diner Dinners section (3 pc $11.79, 5 pc $15.79). The chicken pieces were reasonably plump, and the fries were good diner fries. I picked the Route 66 Burger under the Burgers section. This was $11.69 without any sides. I made it a Combo with Onion Rings and a drink for $7.99, making the meal $19.66 before taxes and tip. The burger patty was ordinary, but the fried mushrooms, fried onions, melted mozzarella and chipotle mayo did give each bite some flavour. Service was friendly and fairly fast. We were in and out in about 45 minutes.
