Country Boy is a Kitchener staple. My go to is always the eggs Bennie but have had a number of the breakfasts. The potatoes that come with most meals are great. The food and the decor are both old school diner, though it seems to always be clean. Line ups on the weekends, so plan ahead.

Lots Of Bad Food. I couldn’t be more upset at myself. I should have known better. Big menu equals frozen from a box food. Heres a tip for everyone. Go to a restaurant with a small but ever changing menu that is fresh but always changing created by a chef who cares. The food at country was obviously from a box.. Even the fries were the coated and anemic looking, Do restaurants know how much people appreciate fresh cut fries. I know this place is best known for its breakfast but my rule of thumb is you can only screw up breakfast because everyone loves bacon and eggs, Oh yeah the decor. I am old enough to have lived through the eighties and I wish we could go back and sue the eighties for bad taste. We could Country Boy for exhibit 1 of bad eighties taste. The fact that this place is so popular explains explains much about the size of people walking around this country. If you are morbidly obese this is your restaurant. And remember the bigger the menu the worse the food will be.

After they Reno’d the place with mismatching decor the place when down hill… It looks like a Greek nightmare in there, plus the food is garbage!! If you want a $3.99 breakfast your getting what you pay for there, ex lax in a dish… I barely make it home before I feel the gut retching cramps come on (normally hits in the parking lot) I feel so gross after this cheap food! And guess what.. If you don’t eat all your home fries the next customer is getting them refried with a pinch of paprika!! Enjoy!!

OK, but there are better diners in town. My wife and I went to Country Boy on Labour Day. It was one of the few restaurants that were open on that day. Country Boy has a huge reputation in Kitchener-Waterloo. It is truly a family diner, big on breakfast specials and typical diner selection. We both had the breakfast specials with the alternative tomato slices instead of the home fries. The tomatoes were a mistake. It’s better to stick to the home fries, as the cardboard-like tomatoes weren’t worth the calorie-saving sacrifice. Service was good, but minimal. While this place is decent and offers honest value for the money, there are much better places in Kitchener for breakfast fare. I think of Kypreos on Lancaster Street (a bit more pricey, but woth it) or Milton’s on King Street East.

I went for breakfast (at lunchtime lol). I had the icecream waffles and a sprite. It was cheap and was good but I have had better. I would go again but not for the waffles. The service was good too and was fast.

Good food & Cheap prices.. It’s their portions and cheap prices that always have me comming back to this place. I like something different every month and this month it happens the be the hot turkey.. if it came with stuffing it would make this dish even better. I also recommend the chicken parmesan, liver, and all breaktfast items especially the eggs benedict.
