Last week I enjoyed a wonderful BBQ dinner at AFT Kitchen and Bar. My girlfriend and I split a platter for one ($25) which came with two BBQ choices and 2 sides. We went with brisket and ribs with beans and coleslaw on the side. The brisket was done to perfection – may have been the best brisket I have ever had. The ribs were tender and full of flavour. The baked beans had a nice smokiness to them as well. In addition, we ordered an order of smoked wings ($14) which came with fries. The wings were unreal. We ordered them skinny dipped in their house BBQ sauce which was a big hit. The waitress brought over a trio of otherbbq sauces (varying in spiciness)to try with our meal and they were all delicious. We each had a pint of Sapporo ($7) to wash down our meals. The back patio was beautiful and offered some nice shade on a hot day. I will definitely return to AFT K&B.

Pretty good. Nice place to go when it’s a little chilly out.First, the good. 1. Not too expensive. 2. Generous portions. 3. Cozy space if you can get a table. The bad? The tastes promised in the menu are just not there in certain dishes. We ordered the portobello fries and the duck appetizer to start. The fries were really good but the alioli was a little salty. The duck was a little weird. It came with walnuts, blueberry sauce and pickled cauliflower. The meat was a little dry but there was a ton of it. This could have been a main dish! For mains, we ordered the steak sandwich and the ribs. The steak sandwich came with lots of very delicious fries. On first bite, the sandwich was great — soft bun, tender meat, etc. But then I thought, wait a minute. Doesn’t this come with cheddar and horseradish, as per the menu description? I couldn’t detect these flavours in my sandwich. I mean,it was good… but kind of bland. The ribs were pretty good — 7/10.So, overall we liked it and would go back. The menu is interesting and there are other things I would order next time (the chicken sounded good).
