Yeah, no, just nope. At least not for Gyros, worst place on the Dan so far – Dude, what is this?! Service was ok, price was OK, but what is this deformity of a Gyros they have served me? Where is the mound of meat, the onions, the pile of tomatoes, the meat with crispy bits and rendered fat? Again, Dude, what did you just serve me? I would not go back here, and not I am just writing to get to the 140 characters for the review. What did I buy? A Gyros/Beef. what did I get, a light weight pita filled with sliced beef (looked like sliced steak and not cooked on a spit) 1 slice of tomato light on the sauce, 3 pieces of onion. No fries, no special sauce… FTS!
I have been going to Astoria since the 1980’s, have always enjoyed the food there and atmosphere. However, tonight, I was very disappointed to say the least. Our order seemed to take forever to get there, and when it did arrive, I was astonished to see that the pork souvlaki was burnt like charcoal and hard as rock. The so called garlic bread did not arrive, and had to remind the gentleman server twice that we did not receive it. Finally, I had to ask our female waitress who originally served us that we did not receive it. She was prompt on getting the bread, however, when it did arrive, it was burnt and ripped up in pieces as though a dog had gotten to it. I did approach the female manager of how disappointed I was with the meal, and she apologized to us how busy they were, and refunded the pork souvlaki meal and garlic bread, which was very nice. However, the quality of the food has really gone down hill unfortunately, over the years. I used to enjoy eating there, however, after such a let-down of an evening, I don’t think I will be eating there ever again.
Greek/Mediterranean food is one of my favourites. Came here for a quick and affordable lunch. I ordered the lamb souvlaki and was very satisfied. It was a large serving which I love. The potatoes were great too, soft and golden on the inside. Will go back.
Ordered from there last night. Generous portions. The best tzatziki I have ever had. It was a great meal and we will definitely be having it again.
It’s a ok place nothing special. Not worth what you pay for. Find another place to eat on danforth. Lots of other amazing Greek restaurants around there. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go and eat there.
Our go-to spot for Greek food because they have the best pork souvlaki in Toronto. Large pieces of perfectly cooked juicy pork come with rice, potatoes and Greek salad (mostly lettuce and feta cheese). Grilled calamari is usually good but last time I was there, it had a strange ammonia-like taste. Not sure what it was. Service is usually on point.
One of my favourite Danforth Greek food places. Obviously being on the Danforth there is a lot of competition but the place is always busy and the Kebobs are very good.
