I had a v bad experience here in april 2015. The omelette i ordered had too much salt when ch can happen as a human mistake. N i very decently let them know after 2 bites that i cannot eat it n to chk with chef…. shockingly they wont even listen to my complain, when i insisted they went back to kitchen n came back saying the chef says ITS IMPOSSIBLE, probably u eat less salt. my fren said i have tasted it too, u can ask chef to taste it, they wont accept it or taste it themselves. In the middle of the day, in front of everyone!!!! They said i cud eat it or leave it but they cant help me!!!! Well….. u can decide on the customer service and arrogance of the cafe. Sad!
Wandered into this Florentine cafe on a Saturday during their brunch hour. Nothing served here really reminded me of Florence other than some souvenirs on display, but let’s talk food. They do sell some typical ordered baked goods from the same place every standard cafe on the city orders from so you can rest assured that the chocolate banana and carrot loaves are exactly what you’d expect. There were about 8 tables max plus a.couple of bar chairs and the one server was completely overwhelmed. It took about 19 minutes to get water and another 10 before we could order. The food came about 15-20 minutes later so if you plan on doing anything other than chilling in a cafe most of the afternoon you should try another place. Given that there were a lot of Greek bakeries selling homemade pastries we were kind of disappointed with this place but we ran out of time.Food wise, they had some sandwiches and French toast floating around that looked delicious. We ordered the parsnip puree soup and sides of the quinoa salad. The soup was pretty good and the quinoa was edible. In summary, get the French toast but if you want something unique get some spinach or cheese pastries from nearby Greek bakeries.
I wanted to share a totally EXTRAORDINARY dining experience with all of you! On the recommendation of a good friend, four of us tried Cafe Fiorentina at 236 Danforth tonight. We eat out a lot, and travel a lot, and tonight were blown away at the phenomenal passion, service and food here. The owners are Alex and Tina, and Alex is the chef. Meeting both of them, we love the passion and commitment they have for their business. The sommelier and front-of-house guy last night is from France. He started studying his craft in France at age 14, formally. Lovely menu, or…..we did the 5-course tasting menu…you have the choice of 3, 5 or 7 courses…with wine pairings if you wish. I cannot tell you how exquisite the food was, and how amazing the wines were, one from Prince Edward County. We were amazed. Truly. Apparently this is a place already known for brunches and lunches, but they now do dinners on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. They have what looks to be an incredible dining experience lined up for Valentine’s Day, which they are doing on the 13th. This is a small, intimate place. Do yourselves a favour. If you love innovative, passionate food, try Cafe Fiorentina. I am not affiliated with this business, but am dedicated to local business, and this one deserves your undying love <3
I have been to Cafe Fiorentina twice already and have generally enjoyed it! Their breakfast is fantastic. The brioche french toast was great (I tried a few bites of a friends’) and the pancakes I ordered were *amazing*. The jam that came with the pancakes was so lovely! Another friend ordered the duck eggs benedict and really enjoyed it. We also ordered some coffee, which was made with a french press. It was excellent! We returned shortly after for lunch, but weren’t terribly impressed by their offerings. Two of us ordered their roast chicken panini and were struck by how tasteless it was. There was so much bland chicken and a few slivers of cucumber and pepper, as well as walnut. The chicken had no spices or seasoning, so it was just not that great.I’ll give it another try, but probably won’t be ordering a panini again. This just might be a breakfast spot for me.
A true gem you almost don’t want to share!. Hands down my favourite brunch spot – it never disappoints! Very hard to find a place where I can completely trust that anything I order off the menu will be well done. The Duck Eggs Benedict definitely didn’t disappoint (great sauce, not the typical too-thick-and-creamy kind), excellent Brioche French Toast, love their coffee, and the QUICHE… Oh that quiche!! Best I’ve ever tasted… incredible light and fluffy texture that lets the egg shine and just enough flake in the pastry. On top of the food, what I love is the ambiance. It is cozy and warm and you really get the feeling that you are inside a place where everything is made with love.
Now great dinner. The best place on the Danforth is now doing dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We have been enjoying lunches and brunches, but dinner tonight exceeded our expectations. Foodies delight. The gnocchi with beef cheeks was amazing. Menu changes every week.
My husband and I love this restaurant! It is a true gem! The carrot cake is so amazing that we asked the chefs to make it for our wedding. The quiche is out of this world! The French toast is devine! All panini are delicious!! You can’t go wrong with any dish! We love Cafe Fiorentina!!
