Located along the quieter portion of Queen East between Leslieville & the Beach, Chick-N-Joy is a take-out joint that has been frying chicken since 1977.Not to be confused with the inferior-tasting chain restaurant with a similar name, Chick-N-Joys bold claim of Love at First Bite is not falsely advertised. Try one of their $6 lunch specials or try and take down their 4-piece Dinner ($8.65) thats filled to the brim with chook, fresh-cut fries, a side-dish of your choosing and a dinner roll. Somehow I managed to finish it in one sitting.The portions are huge; the prices are good; the food is tasty. Chicken is AWESOME. Their chicken and fries are awesome! Not greasy. I tired their slaw and wasn’t a fan as well, their hot sauce is not hot and it tastes fruity, not worth the $1.20 that I paid for. Chicken is A W E S O M E!
Unfortunately I found no joy in eating here. Just found it to be bland and boring.
I love chicken joy. Get the chicken gravy, only place in the city I’ve found thus far.
Chicken, Fried Chicken…. Authentic southern styled deep fried chicken take out establishment, not miles away in taste from KFC, but a cleaner home cooking type seasoning. Not the healthiest choice but for what it is but very tasty and friendly service.Not many options other then chicken, fries and choice of salad.Surprised they don’t have chicken wings!
