2019/02/23After our Saturday morning visit we were heading crosstown for an event, and we stopped along the way on The Danforth to have lunch at Fernandos Hideaway. It is a small-ish place that seats about 30, and only one table was occupied when we showed up before 12:30 pm. The decor was a bit dark in the back part of the restaurant, where all the walls were painted red, green and mustard yellow. The bench seats were red leatherette, and single chairs were dark brown leatherette. we sat by the window, where there was more light. While the restaurant is clean, it is showing some wear and tear at some of the edges of the upholstery. After looking over the menu for a couple of minutes, SWMBO decided on the Enchilada Dinner with chicken ($14.99). Two corn tortillas, stuffed with shredded, seasoned chicken, along with rice, beans, guac, sour cream and a little bit of pico de gallo and lettuce. A decent enough meal. I had the Fish Burrito ($14.99). The fish was basa filet, marinated in fajita sauce, and had the same sides as SWBMOs enchilada dish. I took the sour cream, guac and pico de gallo, and smeared it over the entire burrito, so the I got all the flavours in each bite. The flavour of the fish got lost a bit with all the other stuff. Given how not busy they were, it seemed a bit odd that the meals took over 20 minutes to serve.
