This place is always such a treat when I visit. I usually save this neighbourhood gem as a special occasion spot as I find every item on the menu is usually nothing short of delicious. The fresh, local ingredients used makes every dish that much yummier and it’s great to see local restaurants support Ontario’s local produce. I took my best friend here tonight for her birthday and we ordered the winterlicious menu. I started with the haddock croquettes, then had the lamb shoulder as a main and finished off with a sesame Creme caramel.

Nice and small patio, service a bit slow.. Visited on a Sun night, party of 2 and sat on their rooftop patio. It’s 2 flights of stairs to get up there, so be prepared for that. You can’t actually see much from the patio because the walls are so high, they have a few awnings to cover the sun/rain. The bench seats were kind of dirty, you could see people ass shapes based on the dirt patterns. My date ordered the Pappardelle which has no meat and I had the Pickeral. Both dishes were done well and delicious. It felt like it took a while to get the food, maybe 25min considering the restaurant was only half full it could have been a bit faster. It was very nice and quiet though so a great spot to actually have a conversation. I’ve dined here before for their tasting menu which was amazing.

Globe Bistro by Dan Bodanis. Globe BistroFine dining at a reasonable price, in a great setting, with wonderful service.124 Danforth Avenue. Toronto. 416-466-2000Reservations recommended.Call for hours. Saturday and Sunday Brunch is highly recommended. Is it possible for a restaurant to be too good for a City? With a continental old school flair for exceptional service along the lines of the finest European 5 Star Restaurants, combined with a menu that runs the gamut from the sublime to the most palette grabbing stimuli, Globe Bistro is an outstanding choice for fine dining.Located in a very chic area of Torontos The Danforth, from the outside Globe looks deceptively small and understated. Once you walk through the double doors, to be met with by a very polite, smiling, welcoming hostess, you realize that Globe is a restaurant where two could dine in the most intimate of settings, or a high tech, well-to-do company might rent the establishment for the evening to hold a large celebratory party, upon the day their IPO launches. Figuratively and literally, Globe is really several major restaurants in one. There is a front section; a middle section near the kitchen which is set off to one side; there is a second floor balcony, for a select few; there is a row of private booths; and there are even more private rooms that can hold a nice family function, or a large party.Once again, please let me recommend that you make reservations in advance, and if out for a special, intimate celebration, ask for the corner table on the balcony, overlooking the restaurant. This could be one of the best restaurant tables in the City! Now that you have been ushered to your table for two on the balcony, overlooking the restaurant, you will be met with by a very capable, experienced wait staff, that clearly understands the concept of creating an exceptional dining experience. They are always there, but never intrusive or over-bearing. When they make recommendations from the menu, they speak from first-hand experience on details of seasoning, presentation, taste, interplay/food combing with other courses, and the overall dining experience. Rarely will a restaurant referral include the names of all the people that work so effortlessly as a team, in service of your ultimate dining experience, however, in the case of Globe Bistro, it is the people that make this restaurant worth the one hour drive from Oakville to the East side of Toronto! Tonight, the people that touched our dining experience deserve numerous accolades beyond a simple thank you. They include: Executive Managers: Ed Ho and Adrian Amara; Wait Staff: Edward, Elsie, and Stacy; and support staff: Kieram and Jake. Never once will you have to ask to have your water or wine glass refilled, as they seem to have such seemingly insignificant details mastered. When presenting the various courses you will have chosen, wait staff have a dramatic flair for the artistry of grand presentation, and that only serves to heighten the anticipation of your dining experience. The geography of food presentation, in terms of how and where each item on your plate is placed has a Zen-like quality at Globe Bistro. It was as if each plate was delivered, only after it sat through a photo shoot with a most discriminating photographer! Perfect placement was the beginning of the food service story, complimented by a middle section that spoke to the exact right temperature, finished by the grand climax of exquisite taste. throughout the meal! What did we order? Truly, this does not matter! Why? You might also ask: How could anyone write a review of a restaurant, without including what was ordered? This may not make sense at first, however, having had the opportunity to order several appetizers, two main courses, dessert, drinks and coffees; all of which were outstanding in terms of every criteria of measurement, this reviewer feels it best to leave this one detail out of the review because there is a subtle confidence that grows within, as your dining experience progresses that says: anything you order from the menu or the Chefs Tasting will be outstanding. This crescendo of culinary confidence climaxes with the consumption of your last morsel, and the best part is the bill! How much will this cost you? The answer obviously depends on what you order, however, allow me to add the fact that, in comparison to other noted fine dining establishments, portions, quality, delivery, and ambiance, far exceed expectation, and your investment for a dining experience of this nature, is not only understated, it is a damn good deal! Globe Bistro is a stand-alone, fine dining establishment for people who truly relish the Gestalt of exceptional cuisine, chic ambiance, learned and refined service, and a great night out!

Excellent Taster’s Menu! The service was attentive and friendly, the decor is elegant and warm and the chef displayed superior skill that night using all fresh local ingredients from farm to table. Atlantic shrimp with sun dried tomato paste and chattily was fresh and flavourful. Braised short beef ribs was tender and very exquisite. The four different scoops of sorbet (the lavender one was fragrant and refreshing) were all each crowd pleasers. Highly recommended resto!

Good brunch. Had a nice brunch on Sunday recently…..the omelettes and waffle were very tasty. We also tried the smoked trout and it was delicious. The restaurant ambiance is nice, the food was good, the only thing I would mention is that we waited a really long time for the food to arrive. Other than that it was good!

Poor Service. I definitely can see why many people have had positive experiences at Globe. The atmosphere is nice, the restaurant looks great, and it’s in an amazing area. In my experience, I found that the food was good, but not great. There was not one item that stood out, or that I would even remember. The service was average, up until the end of my meal, where my server turned an average experience into an awful one. I am not ever going back to Globe, and I regret giving them the business that I could have given to another restaurant that would have had more value towards treating their customers properly.

Loved it!. Two of us went there with a Groupon coupon (2pax, 5course for 69$); I had called in advance to check what the daily menu was: roast red pepper soup (I’m not usually a fan of soups but this one was so amazingly delicious!), salad with prosciutto and goat cheese (really tasty, although it was a bit funny to see it arrive in a HUGE plate, with the salad artistically laid out on one tiny side), black cod (fantastic) and our main, roast pork loin with some coffee rub, was excellent. I chose the cheese (good) and my partner chose the chocolate tort (amazing). The service was very nice and the overall experience was really impressive! With that coupon, it was an amazing deal!
