Great place for Pho. My friend who is a vegetarian and I chose this place for lunch as they had a vegetarian pho option which is hard to find in the city. The broth was a lemongrass broth and just the right amount of salt. I ordered the special which was 3 different styles of beef. Service was attentive and courteous.
We wanted something tasty but easy for our Valentines dinner. Hanoi was the perfect choice especially because the weather was also frigid. We started off with the tofu fresh rolls which were made to order…so super fresh indeed. I then ordered the Pho Ga and my boyfriend ordered the Lemongrass Chicken with rice.My broth was light and clear with a strong hint of cinnamon. It wasn’t as complex in flavours as I’m accustomed to at other pho places. But nothing I couldn’t fix with a big splash of Sriracha! The portion was average relative to the price. There was only one size available to order while most places offer S/L/XL. They did give me quite a few chicken slices though.The Lemongrass Chicken with rice was a bit bland and slightly greasy. We also ordered it with a side of yu choy which unfortunately never came.The service was warm and friendly. The owners sat at the back and greeted all their regulars.Perhaps we came on an off kitchen day because my BF swears that he normally has a stellar meal. I guess better luck next time.
