I really wanted to like this place more, but I was heavily disappointed with the Perro Loco – their version of huevos rancheros. The description was off, fried eggs was actually more of an omelette or scramble, I couldn’t actually find the chorizo, and the beans were meh at best…I’m not going to write this place off yet, it’s cute and I really want to like it, but Perro Loco no more.

Diamond, in the rough. Not a rough diamond, mind you, but a real gem along a dirty little stretch of Gerrard, near Logan. I’ve just enjoyed their original Mad Dog Breakfast Sandwich ($5.75) a coffee and a slice of carrot cake ($3.50). All were notable. If I had to make one or two slight improvements, I’d add a bit of garnish to the sandwich as it arrived looking a bit lack-lusted on the plate, I’d also go a little easier on the the special sauce (mayo?) as it tended to overwhelm much of the dish. Still, all in all, a good place for a nosh. Complimentary WIFI provided and the music isn’t too loud (although I might argue ANY country & western music is too loud). Front windows open to the street, which can be a bit noisy at times.

Love the atmosphere, coffee and treats. The owner is great but my only criticism is the customer service from the girl who works during the weekdays. Although she is SLOWLY becoming more friendly it stuns me that even when the cafe is empty, and no other customer in sight, she will not walk that coffee to your table!

Love this place… Hip, Small town vibe. This place is unique, because it strikes a balance of hip and small town cozy, with super friendly staff. The food is tasty and honest. Time slows down in this cafe, you will know what I mean when you visit. Feels like you are in your own corner of the city. It’s kid friendly, and has a delicious, inexpensive brunch/breakfast on the weekends. There is space for strollers and kids, and ample space to call your own. It’s bustling without being over-crowded. Johnson (the owner) has to be applauded for having vision on turning this stretch of Riverdale/Gerrard into a hip destination. Since, it’s opening, Playpen and Hammersmith’s have opened. It’s only a matter of time, until this pocket has boutiques, bakeries and restuarants.

Excellent coffee and Montreal style bagels. I havent tried the breakfast or sandwiches yet, but their menu looks delicious. The brewed coffee is done in small pots so it’s always fresh.
