This place is run down and the pictures are all out because the place is trash and the service from the manager is garbage, he’s horribly rude and double charged for a single serving, when we orders a second side and got charges for a second side but only received one portion and was told that we’d have to pay for a third serving to fix the second portion that we never received, and it was a friends birthday and a $100 order of food and the manager still ruined the experience and didn’t care about anything but our money and not our experience

On the way home my fiance and I decided to check out New York Cafe on the Danforth to grab a bite to eat for dinner. It was our first time there and sadly, our stay ended briefly. We started off with 2 glasses of water and an appetizer plate of jalapeo poppers (which I rate 3/5, they weren’t great but they weren’t bad). Everything was going well until the owner or manager of the restaurant started loudly having a conversation with a friend about politics and immigration. Don’t get me wrong everyone is entitled to their own thoughts and opinions but that does not give anyone the right to spew out hateful and racist comments about immigrants entering Canada. My fiance is Mexican who is originally born in the United States while I am of Filipino/Spanish descent who migrated to Canada with my family at the young age of 2. Never have I felt so unwelcomed, uncomfortable, discriminated and truly alienate. We immediately got up and paid for our appetizer meal inorder to quickly leave.I have been living here in Toronto for 23 years and have always been proud to be part of a city that’s a melting pot of culture and ethnicity. I’m proud to be Canadian and to be part of a country that thrives off of multiculturalism. We all bring something special and unique to the table.Today, dining at New York Cafe on the Danforth.. I left feeling ashamed of who I am and I think it’s safe to say that I will never give this restaurant my business ever again.Shame on you New York Cafe manager/owner/management for allowing such hate and discrimination to be part of your day to day operations and who you are.
