Having been to this restaurant many times over the years, I can see how this restaurant has slipped. Service has never been top but it was fine. I am willing to put up with poorer service if the food is great, but this not the case. Pork souvlaki is a staple in a Greek Restaurant and should be an easy one to do right. It was dry, a lack of marinading most likely. Meat was rather bland. Poorly cut meat too, it was rough cut, not clean cut. Greek salad was mediocre. Rice was over cooked. Bread served with flavored oil. If it was olive oil, it was a blended product. Definitely not extra virgin olive oil straight up. Won’t be back unless major food change.

Very long wait time. The only thing that was good was the Saganaki but the bread to eat it with took another 10 minutes to arrive after 2 requests. When we finally got our entrees, the chicken was dry, the fries were oily and overcooked, the salad was drenched in oil and everything was way too salty. Not impressed!

When you stroll through The Danforth, you’ll crave Greek food. While there may not be as many Greek restaurants to choose from as in previous years, there are still quite a few….hmmm, which to choose from? It being a warm night, I was drawn to the open-air patio that wrapped around the side of Pappas Grill. (Atmosphere is a big part of a dining experience!) The hits: the tzatziki and melanzano dips were delicious, as was the feta cheese drizzled with olive oil and Greek oregano. The misses: the spanakopita was bland due to lack of filling. Where was the fresh spinach and feta cheese? We could only taste the filo. The fried calamari was also average and missing a bit of herbs or spices to the batter (which always elevates fried calamari, in my opinion).

Pappas grill has a hard-to-miss location in Greek town which is filled with restaurants and their lovely patio instantly draws one’s attention. We visited here on last labor’s day for lunch and enjoyed the experience. The service staff was very attentive, especially the lady who seemed like the manager and an older waiter (he was super sweet and it’s such a shame I don’t remember his name) who attended to us. We had brushetta, salmon & stuffed chicken breast for mains and baklava for dessert. The stuffed chicken breast was yumm and emerged a clear winner among all the dishes we ordered. Wouldn’t mind going back.

Last Saturday, there were two couples on the patio. My wife and I strolled in and sat down. 5 minutes later, no service. Ok no problem. So I went into the restaurant and just looked in and waited for 30 seconds or so until staff looked right at me as there were several staff standing around the kitchen entrance. I returned to our table and sat down, 5 minutes later; no service – not one staff member even bothered to come out to the patio. There was one couple inside – there were more staff members than customers. We left. Worst service ….. Evah !

Came to Pappas on Canada Day. They have a nice patio, lined with flower pots and plants. Has a garden feel to it which I liked. We ordered the Saganaki as our first appetizer (which is always a favourite of mine) and it was really good! Nothing like fried cheese set on flames at your table. We also ordered the grilled calamari which was very good. Comes nicely presented on the plate and was cooked perfectly. Not too tough/chewy. Then I ordered the chicken souvlaki for my entree which comes with the standard potatoes, rice, Greek salad and tzatziki. All were pretty good. Overall good experience!
