I found it quite disappointing. The bacon itself was not of the best quality, the bread on the bacon butty my friend had was toasted, when it should be left plain (to soak up the fat and the egg!), and the interior – we sat in the window – is cramped, not very clean and the stools are shaky. The service was friendly, but really you’re much better off making it at home

I was really in the mood for a nice, hearty sandwich filled with love and I found it here. The service was great and I really liked the interior. My husband and I each ordered one of their sandwiches and though it does not look that big it is really filling! Expect it to hold you over for a good 4 hours. Well, we also got an order of fries to share so that also filled us up. Fries were okay, but the star is their sandwiches. I wish it was better ventilated inside because you do smell afterwards.

Where can you find a great bacon butty sandwich in Toronto? I’ll tell you, but first, you may be wondering what a bacon butty sandwich is. Invented in England, it’s a favourite sandwich among Brits consisting of white bread, bacon and brown sauce. You can find this unique dish and other delicious bacon sandwiches at the family-friendly diner, Rashers. Owner Richard Mulley is originally from England and is committed to making quality bacon sandwiches for his customers that are simple, yet delicious. Rashers, he says, is not about bacon being the hot new food trend. It’s a casual restaurant where you can find premium local bacon of different cuts and varying flavours. I recently attended a dinner to sample some of Rashers’ most popular creations at the newly opened Ossington location. The original location is in Leslieville and is a hit with locals.British expats who are hungry for an authentic bacon butty ($8.00) will enjoy the classic sandwich that comes with homemade brown sauce and cheese or a fried egg may be added to it for a small charge. This one isn’t reserved for just the expats; try this novelty for yourself! The brown sauce is tangy with a hint of spice and the meaty sandwich is quite filling. The bacon Caesar ($9.00) tastes much like you would imagine: crispy smoked strip bacon, fresh romaine lettuce with homemade Caesar dressing and grated parmesan cheese is served on a warm ciabatta bun. If you like a lot of crunch, this sammie is made for you. The fantastic brie and bacon ($10.00) is a crowd-pleaser. With smoked strip bacon, melted brie cheese and caramelized onions topped with a homemade garlic aioli on a toasted bun, this sandwich has a mix of both creamy and crunchy textures. The garlic aioli is not too overpowering and complements the sandwich very well. I also sample some delectably addictive hot and crispy garlic potato wedges ($4.00).If you like your bacon cut thick, the Hogtown ($9.00) is your go-to. The typical Canadian sandwich is a nod to one of Toronto’s numerous nicknames and is comprised of peameal bacon with one-year aged cheddar and homemade ale mustard on multigrain bread that will keep you satiated. My absolute favourite sandwich of the night is the apple and maple grilled cheese ($9.50). It is loaded with cheese and is both sweet and savoury. The grilled sandwich comes with maple glazed smoked strip bacon, one-year aged cheddar and apple chutney on white bread that is bursting with flavour. Finally, Mulley offers the bacon burger ($11) to sample. The burger’s patty has bacon mixed into it and comes with burger essentials, like lettuce, tomato and a signature chipotle mayo on a toasted bun. It’s a substantial sandwich, so make sure you’re hungry if you opt for this one. After sampling some of Mulley’s unique creations, I can certainly say that you can find bacon sandwiches with high quality ingredients that are tasty and satisfying at Rashers. It’s is a bacon lover’s dream where you won’t feel guilty pigging out! thecharmingmodernist.com

Small place that makes bacon sandwiches. Not much of a dime in place. Had the winter warmer. Was really tasty. Would recommend this place to bacon lovers.

Small hole in the wall that serves up proper peameal bacon sandwiches…and really….all kinds of bacon sandwiches. The place is real small as they only really have a countertop and some school desks out front. The smell of bacon hits the air, and it fills the small room rather quickly. They have a list of bacon sandwiches, but I went for the Hogtown Sandwich ($7.50), with their special Brown mustard sauce. It was 2-3 thicker slices of peameal bacon, of which I added an egg and cheese for $1 extra each. The bacon slices were cooked very well and were nicely tender. Really gotta work the teeth to tear the peameal apart. The runny egg and cheese made it that much better. The brown mustard sauce was OK, but I was growing tired of it and they really drown the sandwich in it, so I eventually removed the top bun and ate the remainder of my sandwich like a peameal bacon taco (new menu idea guys!) The potato wedges are good but super thick and can make the meal a bit too heavy. The place is a shrine to bacon as you will find bacon facts, bacon posters, and even a portrait of Sir Kevin Bacon on the wall as well. They take their bacon seriously and you don’t come here and not devour as much of the porky goodness as possible. Not a place for vegetarians or practicing Jews. cheatdayeveryday.com

When you stand outside, you can hear the bacons sizzle! The meat is seasoned to perfection and amazing mustard sauce too! I just wish the sandwiches were warmer when it was served, but it still tasted great! Cool staff wearing awesome shirt as well!

Very cool concept…all things baconTiny store front is mostly for takeout, with only a few stools availableThe smell of frying bacon hits you as soon as you walk in. There is an assortment of bacon sandwiches available. I shared the hog town and grilled cheese with bacon. The hog town was a very substantial sandwich! With a fried egg with quite a lot of tender peameal bacon..very filling. The grilled cheese was ok. The bread appeared a little blackened and the sandwich itself was quite greasy…would not order againAlways wanted to try Rashers and glad I did. Will definitely come back when I crave large amounts of bacon in the east end.
