We dropped into Rodeo on Friday night for their Winterlicious event. After tax and tip (included) we spent $50ea – no drinks. The salad/appy bar was pretty big and offered up mussels, smoked salmon, and other tasty starters. Bring on the meat! We were bombarded with a never ending service of meats on spits. Chicken, pork, and beef were served up in different ways. From parm pork to chimichuri beef, there was no shortage of flavour. As we were doing Winterlicious, we weren’t served three of the meats offered in the regular menu. That said, we didn’t even notice. Our bellies were full and our tastebuds were rocking out. An excellent meal with welcoming service!
At Rodeo, we started off with some self-serve appetizers where all kinds of salads were prepared. I had some slices of smoked salmon and prosciutto as well as Caesar salad. The smoked salmon was buttery and fresh and the prosciutto was delightful. But what hubby and I really enjoyed were the garlic shrimps and steamed mussels. These were juicy and sweet, and the garlic sauce was just plain yummy! However, we needed to save space for the meats to come, so we settled for a few pieces and refrained from having second and third helpings. For the main course, we were first served side dishes consisting of a rice dish called farofa (with beans and topped with cassava), fried plantains, mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The server also gave us the red/green cards. Green indicated that we wanted to be served. And for as long as you had your green card out, the meats would continue to come. Once you have had enough, you flip the card to red. With our glass of Tempranillo, the meat started to arrive. We had sausages, boneless chicken, sirloin, filet mignon, rump roast steaks, roasted pork and many more. We skipped on chicken legs, chicken hearts and bacon-wrapped turkey. I really enjoyed the picanha (rump roast) with its slivers of fat making the meat tender and juicy. Hubby liked the porchetta (roasted pork butt). The garlic beef and parmesan-crusted pork loin were tasty as well. I did find the top sirloin on the salty side and hubby said the chicken was bland. I smothered it with chimichurri sauce, so I didnt notice. I would say, though, that the chimichurri sauce we had at Parilla Patagonia in Bogota was spicier and tastier! Could this have been mellowed down for North American tastes?Anyway, after 9 servings of meat, hubby and I flipped the card to the red. We were stuffed. Time for some palate cleansers! Our plates were changed and readied for our dessertroasted pineapple with brown sugar and cinnamon. Whole pieces of pineapple were skewered, roasted and covered with brown sugar and cinnamon. These were sliced at our table, too. This was so deliciously refreshing, I had two slices! I wonder how I can make this at homeI am seriously craving it! wanderlustingmama.blogspot.com
I dined at Rodeo last night with 6 friends and it was glorious. The lighting wasn’t great for pictures, but I did my best. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of appetizers at the buffet table. So many delicious items. As for the grilled meats, we had our fill and then some. I would go back again!
Came here for Summerlicious with a friend and we were treated like we were paying full price. The service is fantastic and the food is delicious (and fun!). My top picks are the parmesan pork and the bacon-wrapped tenderloin – and, of course, the incredible grilled pineapple.
Amazing night. We had such an amazing experience in the Rodeo stakehouse for my friends birthday. When we came to the restaurant, even though it was a full house we were seated promptly to our table. We order couple of caipirinhas, and then started with salad bar, it was delicious, big variety of fresh appetizers. And then meat started to arrive, we thought salads were good, but every meat cut was excellent. We were full, and at first didn’t want to try pineapple, but our server assured us that it will help us, and it did. Entertainment was very good, band, dancers and marshal art performance was exciting. We had a very good time there. Looking forward coming back again.
Unwelcoming. We went to Rodeo for winterlicious. This was our first visit. As soon as we walked in she said that she could not believe the online reservation system allowed us to book 5 people. I advised her that they also called and confirmed the reservation so it was strange that there was a problem. They inconveniently added a chair to a small table meant for 4 people. There was no greeting and explanation of how the restaurant worked; however to make things worse she did mention that we had to leave by 8:30 because they were so heavily booked. We sat there awkwardly as all the waiters passed with meat. Eventually we called over the head waitor who realized how poorly we were setup and instructors all the servers to come to our table first. We also only got drinks half way through our meal. After about an hour of eatting, it seemed like no more food was coming out. They were rushing everyone around us out of their seats and a huge crowd was waiting to be served. We had at ask for water and for the desert (pineapple) to be served multiple times. We also were asked how we were paying even though we didn’t ask for or get the bill. Very poor first impression!
