Delicious meal as always – super fresh ingredients and rich flavours keeps this place at the top of my list for best restaurants in Toronto. At $54 a person, the quality-quantity equation is just right as we all left full and satisfied. We were disappointed that nothing was done to acknowledge the birthdays that 2 of the 4 of us were celebrating. Especially as this was known by the hostess when we entered and inconsistent to my experience in years past.Still a great meal, but this small detail disappointed my fiance who had planned and coordinate the night. One other small critique is that the beer could have been colder.
Ruby WatchCo. showcases Lynn Crawford’s passion for local ingredients and highlights the Canadian Master Chefs talent. For a great experience: Order the prefix menu with the wine pairings, it’s an experience you won’t soon forget.
Impeccable, friendly service from start to finish. Service excellence is so rare that I sometimes spend more time on reviews like this when it truly exceeds my expectations. My interactions with 6 staff members throughout the evening were highly coordinated and thoughtful. In observing many of them, I could tell that they understand and practice good teamwork and good communication. Regarding the menu (which changes regularly, if not nightly), the food was superb. The charred broccoli ceasar salad was spectucular; the bacon was cut in a sizeable unique way (these were not bacon ‘bits’). The lemon dressing and the parsimonious use of romaine hearts made this caesar salad taste like no other caesar salad I have had. I enjoyed the Cod immensely, but I found the fingerling potatoes a little too ‘al dente’. Cheese and dessert were wonderful, as was the wine pairings with each of the 4 course prix fixe menu. Creative food, great, genuine warmth in service from start to finish and a vibrant atmosphere (with lots of wood, which I have a bias for) made this a great place to experience what I can only describe as honest, Canadian farm- and sea-to-table fine cuisine.
At Ruby Watchco, there is a set menu that changes daily. You can check the menu for the week online. It is a four course meal at $54 per person. The meal started with a salad that had many flavours that balanced each other. It also came with a delicious scone on the side. Our main was a pan seared trout with red beet relish. This was amazing! The trout was delicious and the beet relish added some sweetness. Along with this was creamy mashed potatoes, a corn and zucchini side and a potato, cucumber and tomato salad.Next was aged cheddar with a plum tomato jam with honey and walnuts. The plum tomato jam was quite good and an interesting combination I had never considered before. Finally, we finished with a chocolate stout cake. It was a very nice way to finish this meal. The food was phenomenal and everyone there was very friendly. I would definitely recommend trying out this restaurant.
The 4-course dinner ($54 pp) is amazingly delectable! The menu changes daily so you would never have the same dinner twice. The food was spectacular from start to finish. The portion size was large, service was personable, and the quality of food was incredible. Would strongly recommend everyone to dine here at least once! fortwoplz.com
My boyfriend took me to Ruby Watchco for dinner. Canadian Chef Lynn Crawford opened this place! Service was excellent. The atmosphere is warm and cozy.It seems like they change up their menus often. DRINKS:* Pinot red wine (his)* Chardonnay white wine (mine)Our menu for the night includes:SMOKED COD & BACON SALAD (5/5)This was so delish!! Loved the cod x salad combination. We really enjoyed this as our appetizer. Opened up our tummies for our mains :)HANGER STEAK with RUBY’S STEAK SAUCE (3/5)The steak was the main dish and we were both looking forward to it the most. Unfortunately, it was rather dry 🙁 The sides that came with the steak were amazing though!!The side dishes that came with the steak (5/5)* Mashed carrot & sweet potato* Red onion relish & feta creamy parsnips with vanilla salted almonds* Foraged mushrooms & spinachAll of the above were SO good, we were surprised that it was even better than the main!ARTISANAL CHEESE w date & orange marmalade (4/5)I really liked the cheese, the marmalade made a great pairing.JUNE’S CARROT CAKE with coffee frosting and caramel (5/5)Loved this! The coffee frosting was bitter on its own but eating the carrot cake combined with the caramel sauce made this dessert so delicious 😀 ch3rieberry.blogspot.com
