So my review might be a bit skewed considering my friends and I missed all the way here for the sticky toffee pudding. But I have to say, SO. WORTH. It was so delicious, my mouth is salivating just thinking about it. Another friend of mine also got the smoked salmon board; although I only sampled a bit, it was quite good. Maybe next time we’ll try the oysters. But I would definitely come all the way here just to eat dessert again.

Greedy servers no good service. This is the last chance i will give this place. I have been there grand total of 5 times, and have never had a pleasant experience. Food is definitely good. Service, terrible. Other experiences have been greeted with disdain, or lack of presence. This last time, I didnt even sit. I left within 5 minutes, due to the fact we were not allowed to sit in the cottage portion because we are a 4 person table. After the server decided it might be slow enough for us to sit there tonight, i couldn’t stay. Being a server myself, i know that 2 person tables generally makes more income and 4 person tables might stay longer. This makes me feel like greed is stronger in this place than making sure return customers come back and rave about the place, creating more business in the long run. I loved the mushrooms on toast, unfortunately i will never have them again at this establishment. Good luck, you may just need it in the future.
Humiliated by the owner. We are three middle aged women who went to this restaurant/bar for oysters and drinks recently. My friend, who is a very congenial person stopped on the way back from the washroom, to speak to a young man who was sitting behind us reading, asking him what type of book he was enjoying. His response was to tell her it wasn’t her business and that she was in his space, in a very rude manner. She was embarrassed and hurt, near tears and I turned around and to my shame, I said two words that I regret saying. We were promptly told to leave the bar by this man, who turned out to be the owner. I was wrong to say what I did, but surely this man could have just answered her and left it at that. A bar owner meets all kinds of people and diffuses many kinds of problems, this was pretty minor and to react the way he did, speaks to his ego and lack of PR skills. We meant no harm, were not causing any problems nor creating a scene, but he was totally unreasonable and had us ejected which was very humiliating as we’ve never been treated that way before. We tried to talk to him, apologised and felt really awful, but he wouldn’t give an inch, was cold and unrelenting. Why would the owner of a bar react so negatively to a simple enquiry thus causing an escalation of such a minor incident? One can only assume he is arrogant and has a huge ego and is doing so well that he doesn’t have to be nice to his customers if he’s reading his book. Bars are friendly places, but this one, not so much. Shame on him for humiliating us and spoiling our evening.
The best and friendliest restaurant in the area! New specials every week, and they are always guaranteed to be awesome… And reasonably priced! Very cute patio in the summer, still haven’t checked out the yurt in the winter but definitely will! Also, make sure to try the sticky toffee pudding, it’s amazing… Mmmm. Love this place!
Victim of own success. Business must be so good that there is no need for customer service anymore. Have been going to this place since it first opened and yes it can get busy. I get that. What I don’t get is that they will not accommodate their customers. The patio did not have availability of tables for 4. Several tables for 2 but no 4’s. We asked if they could move a few tables around, put a couple of 2’s together, no dice. They had tables inside. So we asked if they would seat us inside and when a table for 4 became available , move us outside. Once again they would not. Told us we had to wait in line for a table outside. Any other resto in TO would take care of this. Not these uber waiters. After 30 minutes, we gave up. Glad to see your business is so good that you really don’t care about customers anymore. Obviously you don’t need or want business that doesn’t suit you. You made your choices, now I am making mine .., and happy to share it.
Great place for apps & drinks. First time here and it was great. Had the mac and cheese which was good (love the crunch that the bread crumbs gives). Also tried the Veal & Pork Meatball burger which was really good (daily special). For dessert we had the Banana Bread and Nutella S’mores (daily special) which was good but it wasn’t what I was expecting. The service was great. Would definitely come back!!
