A good beer on a hot night. Great selection of crafted beers will not disappoint. 10 bitter years is a good start. Sounds like a Steinbeck novel…Combined with the brisket sandwich made the evening. A definite do over.

Went for dinner with a few girlfriends and had a great time. Wide selection of beers but my friends bad no problem getting wine/cider either which they preferred. Small menu but everything we had was amazing. Love that they make most of their sauces and even some of the bread in house, and they smoke the meat on property as well. We had the nachos to start with and they were really yummy, I had the burger which was just unreal. Unlike The Works right across the street, they stuck to classic toppings but it was probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever had in my life – definitely hit the spot. Fries were really good too – thick cut but still crispy. Two of my friends had the brisket and the other one the turkey club and we all felt like we were going to die after because we were so full but everything was too good to stop eating.Service was great, really friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and drink selection. They checked in just enough, not constantly hovering or forgetting about us completely.Really liked the decor too, all brick interior and a mix of seating at the bar, hightops, booths etc and the mish mash gave it a cozy feel. Nice enough to go on a date but still laid back enough for families if thats what you’re looking for. I found the prices really reasonable too, especially considering the downtown Oakville location. Overall will definitely be back, I had no idea there was such an awesome laid back atmosphere with great prices and great beer AND great food in stuffy Downtown Oakville.

Bru is located on Lakeshore Rd in beautiful Oakville. The restaurant is very nice with a bar set near the entrance so you don’t have to stumble too far from the entrance after a night of libations. We were able to get a good taste of their appetizers through smaller hors d’ouevres. The mozzarella bites are incredible. They come with their own bloody mary ketchup and you can taste a bit of the bitterness and the heavy tomato with the ketchup. The pulled pork sliders were done well. The slaw and sauce is what really makes any pulled pork. The fried calamari wasn’t the greatest as it’s mostly batter.I also ordered a pound of wings. They have 4 different sauces, but the one that stood out to me was maple bacon. The wings are coated well with the sauce, and you can really smell the maple syrup. I didn’t really get a hint of any bacon, but the maple syrup will do just fine.Menu seems to close in around BBQ and nicer pub food. They have brisket and pulled pork, but also have items like scotch eggs and beef wellington. Either way, this is a good spot to go for curing your hunger pains and your thirst. cheatdayeveryday.com

$5 Draft on SundaysAn interesting list of beers from local breweryAn extensive and respectable bottle beer listA chill and friendly atmosphereAn awesome bar area set up that you can interact with your bartender for suggestion and serviceA interesting menu: Smokey Beef Brisket ($14) (must order if you are a meat lover, oh so tender and moist!)Hard to believe that you can find all the above at Downtown Oakville.I would be back next time when I am in Oakville!
