FOOD:We had come here at around 12:30 pm on a Friday for lunch. I had settled on the Caesar Salad ($8.00) to start, while the Margherita Pizza ($16.00) was my main dish. My mother had settled on the Trout Special ($18.00), which was featured on a separate lunch menu. Once we had ordered, we were asked if we had wanted some bread to start; we both agreed, and waited patiently as the bread was prepared. Once it had arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to notice that the buns were warm, with a small dish of whipped butter, and a dish of oil and vinegar on the side. The buns were absolutely delicious, very fresh and warm, just the perfect amount of taste which should go into a bun. The butter was easy to spread, which made the buns taste even better; definitely a great way to start off a meal!As I was eating the buns, the Caesar Salad arrived. It was quite large, enough for a meal itself. There were an abundance of croutons, bacon bits, and shredded cheese however, I did find it a bit too garlicky (could have been the dressing). I also liked that the dressing was just the perfect amount, not too much however, not too little to make it taste plain. I had finished my salad quite quickly as I was hungry however, I would share it the next time around as I didnt realize how large it was.Once the Margherita Pizza arrived, I was craving it and looking forward to trying it. I loved how thin it was (not too thin however, just right). I also loved how the toppings were placed on the pizza; a good amount of cheese however, not too cheesy. The sauce tasted as though it were homemade, along with a good amount of basil. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the pizza was; it was definitely one of the best that I have ever tried! My mother however wasnt too pleased with her Trout Special, which she said had trout which tasted a bit dry, and was too small for the price that she had paid. Overall though, the food was mostly top-notch, one of the best in the Italian food industry that I have tasted.ATMOSPHERE:This restaurant was situated in a plaza where there were many other restaurants, along with a movie theatre and a few nightclubs. The door was a bit of a walk from the parking lot however, once we had arrived, we were astonished to see how beautiful the dcor of the restaurant on the inside was. The walls were littered with Italian pictures and artifacts, all on a stunning backdrop and beautiful colours to accent the fancy furniture on the restaurant floor. The outside was a nicely enclosed patio, which had umbrellas and comfortable chairs next to quaint tables which were small yet elegant. It was a very clean and comforting atmosphere, one that I would surely want to dine at again. SERVICE:When we had walked-in, we were greeted by a kind young woman at the front whom asked us if we had wanted to sit inside or outside. We had chosen outside as it was a nice day when we had gone. We were then greeted by Onofrio (who never introduced himself however, we had noticed his name on the bill). He was quite quick and to the point however, he was attentive as were dining, coming over to ask us how we were doing, and bringing us a refill on our water glasses when needed. We did notice that it was getting quite packed outside where we were therefore, Onofrio seemed busier once we were leaving. As we left, we were wished a pleasant day by the young woman at the front; definitely seemed as though service was taken to heart at this restaurant.COST:1 Caesar Salad ($8.00) + 1 Margherita Pizza ($16.00) + 1 Trout Special ($18.00) = $47.46 (Taxes Included)WOULD YOU RETURN?Most definitely! This restaurant definitely exhibited many features of an upper-class establishment, one with great food, attentive service, and an atmosphere that screams Italian.
Day Attended: Valentines Day 2016 (February 14, 2016).Rating: -1 Star for Food Quality, -1 Star for Food Quantity, -1 Star for Increased/Inflated Pricing, +1 star for wait staff, -0.5 for atmosphere.Food Ordered: Mac and Cheese Lobster Gnocchi (Special Item), Organic Chicken Breast (Normal Menu Item), 1 Scoop of Blood Orange Gelato (Special Item).Overall: 1.5 of 5 Stars. I would not recommend this place as we left hungry after overpaying. If you do attend I would strongly recommend staying away from non-pasta items and the gelatos.Detailed Review: Was able to schedule a reservation on valentines day and it was my wife’s first ‘outing’ since her operation / marked our 7 year anniversary from when we had first met. When we arrived we asked if we could be seated under the ‘sparkling star’ roof feature and the host agreed. When we were seated we were seated by the window where my wife had a very good view of said feature, although there was an empty table underneath it as she had requested. Based on the restaurant layout, this choice in table seating left me staring directly out a window and a sconce on the wall. Whereas, my wife had a lovely view of the entire restaurant atmosphere. I would strongly suggest re-orienting the window seating by 90 degrees so that all people at the table can experience the atmosphere. As well, this would have prevented wait staff from knocking my chair ~20+ times during the service because we were all ‘packed into the restaurant’. Waiter arrived and was very professional and on the ball. The menu we were provided was not the normal menu. It was a special valentines day menu, which is normal, but usually the venue has ‘special feature’ items and leaves their normal menu items on there without a price fluctuation. The special menu was not communicated on their website and in comparison to the normal menu all of the main entrees had increased in price by ~$3.00-7.00 even though these were ‘normally available items’ (e.g., chicken entree was $29.00 vs. $26.00 and NY Steak was $42.00 vs. $36.00). Other Salads or Appetizers appeared to be the same price. I had already identified what I wanted before arriving and switched my choice when I got there because the value was not there. I would suggest updating the website with special day pricing/menus so your customers know what to expect before attending. Price gouging because its Valentines day should be a mutually agreed to endeavor, especially because the normal prices at the restaurant by my estimation online were already ‘on the line’ for overall value. The food arrives promptly and we take our first impressions. The pasta looks great (so does everyone’s in our vicinity). Plating of the chicken is also very nice. The quantity of pasta is very close to our expectations (maybe 25% more) because of the price (similar quantity of food at the same quality normally goes for ~$18-$23.00 vs. $28.00). The chicken had been cut into two pieces that did not make an entire white meat portion of chicken. Potatoes were substituted for ‘extra veg’ which translates to approximately 1 cup total of combined carrots, beans, and broccoli. Again the value is not there as a larger piece of chicken/vegetables at much higher quality can normally be obtained for ~$18.00-$22.00.The pasta tasted great. It had a very nice cream sauce (great body/texture and flavour). The lobster did not overpower the dish (well balanced). The chicken was over cooked on the inside and the skin soggy on the outside. The seasoning was visually there but did not provide any flavour. The vegetables were equally unseasoned, with the carrots being under cooked. The gelato we ordered was very bad. It had been freezer burned as evidenced by the highly crystallized texture and taste of it being watered down with poor quality water. It tasted like ‘bottom of the box’ chapman’s ice cream that has been removed/put into the freezer multiple times and has now absorbed flavour properties of the box it was held in.
I’m not a huge Italian food fan as I tend to stay away from pasta and pizza but Trattoria Timone was pretty good. Good selection on their menu. I went with the braised beef ribs which were very good. Not very atmosphere in the restaurant too.
As always, left happy and extremely satisfied! Thanks again!Zeke
Trattoria Timone, An excellent place to dine. I visited this lovely restaurant yesterday evening in Oakville, I would definitely recommend this place if you’re someone who likes quality. At many restaurants, it can be quite a challenge to seat a larger group, but that was not a challenge for this restaurant. I really liked that they had larger round tables for groups, it made the experience more intimate. The ambience and lighting was perfect, not too dark, and not too bright. The hostess was so helpful and Steve was an excellent waiter, attentive, gave us recommendations on food choices and was very friendly. The appetizers, specifically the one with the array of meats, olives and cheese is fantastic to nibble on before the meal. Perfect for a group of 3 or 4, I would say. When the entrees came, the plating of the dishes was beautiful, so appetizing and clean. If you like seafood, I highly recommend the CIOPPINO, a seafood stew. Every piece of fish is cooked to perfection!Last but not least the delicious Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse Cake and Tirimisu desserts finished off the night with me wanting to come back again! This restaurant is so well done in many ways. As a first time visitor, living in Oakville for 10 years, it makes me happy that I can eat great food – locally.
Excellent. Dinner – Had a mini celebration here, and this place did not disappoint. The food was delicious, and the service was just excellent. The restaurant is also close to dessert places and the movie theatre. I would really recommend this place to anyone who loves Italian food and is looking for a place to sit down for any ocassion. This place has easily made it on my favourite list.
Good food, good service. My husband and I were looking for a fine dining restaurant to celebrate a special occasion with some friends and ended up here. Usually in a situation like this, we like to go someplace tried and true, but we took a chance with Trattoria Timone and it was the perfect choice. We had a great time. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was delicious, and the service was efficient and friendly. I would definitely go back again. Adding to our goto restaurant list.
