I recently started working in the area and was looking for a good sushi place so I tried Sehmi Sushi. Pretty good place with a good selection of bento boxes. I like getting meals that have a sampling of lots of things, tempura, sushi, teriyaki chicken or steak etc. This place fits the bill.
I visited this place last year, and the sushi was great. Revisited this year… And the place just isn’t what I remember it to be. The sashimi were not fresh, the sushi rolls were tiny. Pretty pricey. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Never again.
We’ve tried a ton of sushi places in Mississaga and found our ‘go to’ place at last. Love the sushi pizza! We ask them to go easy on the rice, as is our habit, and everything is delicious. We find the prices reasonable for the quality, service & ambiance.
With the given menu, Sehmi offers a WIDE variety of choices, which is an advantage to other smaller Japanese restaurants. However, the dishes I ordered, particularly the salmon avocado roll (I could never forget that), came in with a quality that was not at par with the usual kind of sushi Id expect it to be. Now, do not mistake me for having high standards. In fact, people who come there just for comfort eating will notice it as well. The salmon tasted funny (it had a hint of stiffness and dryness). Basically, it killed the essence of the entire dish. Knowing that the salmon avocado roll came out like this, watch out for other similar dishes as well. On the lighter note, the vegetable tempura dish is enjoyable. The udon meals as well. Just watch out for the service; they are nice people but not time-flexible. I believe the reason why for this is due to the little number of staff. I still want you all to try out Sehmi. One little mistake with the sushi roll shouldn’t catapult prejudices on future visits. As I said, they offer a lot on the menu, so there may be other better dishes.
Never, Never, Never again!!!!!. Went here last night with my husband. The waitress took 10 mins to get back to us after seating us. Then we waited another 10 for her to come back to take our orders despite us telling her we wanted to order several times. After we ordered, we finally received our tea. . .20 mins after being seated. It was around the 40 min mark that we started to get concerned when we still have not received any of our orders and after noticing that the 2 tables which arrived after us had their food already. I walked up to the waitress and asked how much longer? She couldn’t even tell me anything…much less offer an apology for the unbelievably long wait. How long does it take to prepare sashimi??????? It wasn’t busy and everyone was already well into their meals! They offered up free miso soup as an apologetic gesture however; the soup was loaded with sodium it was inedible. We finally gave up waiting for our food after 50 mins and left. Bad business, bad service and bad miso soup!! Sorry I can’t offer up a food review because we NEVER GOT ANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review. How did this place get good reviews? The avocado rolls had avocado and a sea weed. nothing else. The sea weed was so tough you could not chew through it. The same with the BBQ’d salmon rolls. The tempura had a nice batter but the vegetables were so bland they were unrecognizable. The sushi was ok..just okNever ever going back
Top Sushi in the Area. At first this small restaurant may be over looked as there are many other sushi places in the area. Strong competition, Dai Ichi sushi is literally around the corner. Having been to both, Sehmi has definitely taken the top spot. The menu is large with good variety of maki/sushi/sashimi/teriyaki. Everything is made to order and the fish is always incredibly fresh. Despite other reviews, I have always found the service good here. Order is promptly taken, miso soup and salad brought first before your meal, checking back to refill tea or other drinks. We always have a couple bottles of beer on our visits, only $4.50 for Heineken. Never gotten take out but their box lunches look like a great deal too.
