I’ve been here a few times and it is a really enjoyable place. The food is great and they have a great variety of craft beers from all around ontario. The people are friendly and it is worth the visit. They also have an upstairs which has small concert events. Pretty cool.
Good food. We have been three times, and happy with the food each time. My partner has to be gluten free, and they have lots of choice on their menu for that & seem to be well-trained in allergy avoidance. Good service, good atmosphere, tasty food!
I recently visited Cafe 13 this passing Saturday before I attended Cambridge’s new Drayton Theatre. We arrived without a reservation, but we were promptly seated, our server was quick to take our drink order and inform us of the daily specials. She returned just a few moments later with the drinks, something I consider a feat with the amount of people inside the restaurant. I started my meal with the Buckwheat Fritters and my guest had the Shrimp Spring Rolls. The fritters were well seasoned and the accompanying Tomato Marmalade was an excellent pairing. My guest greatly enjoying the Spring Rolls commented well on the Mango Sauce that was provided with them. For our mains I had the Beef Short Ribs and my guest went with the Mushrooms Parpadelle, the short ribs were tender and the sweet potato salad served with it was fantastic. Finishing with dessert we split a dessert for two platter for $8 you can sample three of there in-house desserts. We selected the Vanilla Porter Cheesecake, Peanut Butter Ice Cream, and Apple Fritters. Presented beautifully you can tell these desserts are made in-house and the care the cooks take to make them enticing as possible. Overall we had a fantastic meal from beginning to end and I would go out of my way to recommend Cafe 13 to anyone.
Dinner – Disappointing. I attended with friends for an early dinner (5 pm) in advance of going to a play. The dinner menu was limited. Fresh fish and lamb are not something I would order so that removed 3 or 4 items from the menu. I decided on the 6 oz prime rib, medium. We were a group of 9 and the place was not busy when we ordered although it did fill up. The meals came in bits and pieces. Ladies’ or gents, it did not matter who got theirs first. The prime rib was rare not medium and not even warm. The mashed potatoes were soggy and tepid. The vegies were 1/2 a beet and some I think it was parsnips but without flavour you could not tell and the horseradish was tasteless. That and a $7 glass of house wine was $30. There was no water, no buns and the service was poor. Very over priced… Possibly the lunch and bar food is better but certainly dinner is below what one would expect. It is not some place I would be comfortable recommending to anyone.
My husband I went in for dinner tonight before heading to the new drayton theatre and the place was packed! They still managed to accomodate us right away even though we didnt have a reservation. Our server was very friendly and attentive even though you could tell they were busy. The food also came out fairly quickly. I had the beef short ribs which are my favourite and my husband had the special pork belly dish. We were both extremely happy with our choices. We will definitely be back soon!
My wife and I had a very positive experience on Friday last weekl we came in to enjoy the new menu. But little did we know their was also a live band and it became a perfect atmosphere. For myself I had the jerk chicken dish it was amazing head to toe.my wife on the other hand, had the gluten free ceaser salad and the mushroom parpadelle and both were also amazing, we were very impressed as guests food was amazing and service was great music wasnt to loud for the resturant and right in the heart of downtown galt. We will be back again, if there’s any way to know features ahead of time would be amazing to know and we would be down more often.
Great Time. My husband and I go out for a date night every two weeks. This time we decided to go local..Cafe 13..We were not disappointed. My goodness between the service and the food …we were not sure which was better. The fact that the server kept pouring my wine from the 1/2 carfe that I ordered was great….Cafe 13 has great food and great service ….5 stars in my book…
