The reason why I am giving this restaurant a 5 rating is because of their consistency. The food is as good as it gets for a comforting breakfast, but what sets them a part is that its never bad. You will never get food that is cold, or re heated. They always cook it fresh.
One of the Worst in Ottawa. I’m shocked that more than 50% of people who’ve eaten there have given this place a thumbs up. The food ranges from mediocre to awful, the service is slow and the decor is straight out of the 1980’s. This place reminds of the restaurants you see on Kitchen Nightmares on TV. Also, they only have one credit/debit machine and it isn’t cordless, so if you go on a busy day (think something like Fathers’ Day when all the good places are already full) you better bring cash or prepare to wait about 30 minutes in line to pay for your order. I’d rather eat at the gas station across the street.
Never again. A group of us drove 40+ km to eat at Biggs as the last time we were there we really enjoyed it. We got there later than usual as I had doctors appointment to go to. We got there at 7:35 the waitress took our drink order and when she came back she told us they wanted to close the kitchen at 8 yet they were open until 9. Yes I get the idea it’s not busy and they wanted to save money but we felt pressured to figure out what we wanted to order so none of us really took the time to look at the menu. We just browsed it quickly and ordered whatever. Given we never really got to look at the menu as we felt rushed we really didn’t have time to see what was there and order what we wanted. I felt bad for the waitress. I am sure she was more than happy to stay a bit longer so we could take our time but got the impression she felt pressured to get us to order so we could get out so they could close. The waitress was great I had no issue with her but the other couple we were with weren’t happy about the idea of feeling pressure to order and dint enjoy what they ordered because they felt they didn’t have time to properly decide ultimately that affected her tip from them. It’s not her fault that being said if your open until 9 and a group of people come in you should welcome them and not make them feel like they are interrupting you wanting to go home early. My bill was almost $70 for 3 people the people we were with theirs was only $25 I am know for a fact theirs would have been bigger but given they felt rushed they ordered something quick and easy. I actually would have ordered more myself and a higher ticket item I would have ordered steak but felt it would take to long for them to cook it given they wanted to close I would have ordered soup and we all would have ordered dessert but didn’t as we felt rushed.
Hearty and homely. Never had a bad experience. Pricing isn’t outrageous (like some reviews make it sound) either.
Not Impressed!. Simple breakfast order – eggs, bacon, home fries all COLD. Not just warm, but ice cold. My bacon didn’t even look like it hit the grill. It had that grease goop you get when frying fat all over it. Sent all of it back except the eggs & toast and you would think the waitress would ask if anything was wrong with the food, but she didn’t. Not worth the $8.00+ bucks! Not by a long shot.
I love their breakfast. I also really like to go for half price pasta. The baked spaghetti is really good. The Cesar chicken wrap is good. The fajitas and pizza suck. Overall it’s a good restaurant and I will go back.
Way too expensive… Service is brutal.
