I took a quick trip to Poutine Fest, Sparks Street recently and walked around till I found the Upper Deck Truck. It looked very interesting and had a wide variety of choices and not a ton of people waiting to place an order. Within a short period of time I was served and ordered a small Halifax Poutine. I paid $11.00 for a small portion and then waiting 35 minutes for the poutine. I asked the server a number of times when I could expect my order but she said she had no idea. When the poutine finally arrived, it was barely warm and a very small portion. There were 12-13 fries, a tablespoon of cheese, warm sweet pasty garlic white sauce , a teaspoon of unripe finely chopped tomatoes, and finely chopped onions, some crumbled meat which I was unable to identify by taste…What an absolute sickening mess and all after a 35 minute wait and then costing $11.00…and then late to return to work! Last night I happened to notice activity at City Hall and also a collection of the Poutine Trucks. I scanned the group of trucks and found the Upper Deck and went to talk to the person in charge to tell him of my above experience. He listened then laughed a few times and then said sorry…. The person might have been in charge at that time but I would hope that person or those responsible for this company The Upper Deck would take seriously the comments and concerns of their customers. I went out of my way to go over my above experience…. so was again very disappointed with the unprofessional/disinterested response of this supervisor. I am absolutely not interested in any experience with poutine whatsoever!
Went to the Upper Deck with a Groupon and was very impressed with the items I ordered: veggie burger, donair burger and pepperoni poutine. The veggie burger came with sauted onions and mushrooms, which made for quite a handful. The donair burger tasted so good, I could have order a few more. As for the pepperoni poutine, the pepperoni chunks were of decent sizes and very tasty. Unfortunately it was late in the season so the ice cream goods were unavailable. 🙁 Will definitely go back!
