2018/09/28We were heading up to Ottawa for the weekend and we stopped at Spuds Diner in Napanee for lunch. Its cozy restaurant, located in a small plaza in an industrial part of town, so almost all the customers are local. It was about half full when we showed up shortly after 12 noon on a Friday. SWBMO had the Chicken Fingers and Fries which came with a side of corn, which we thought was a bit odd. The chicken and fries were done right, but were ordinary. I opted for the Western Omelette, which came with hash browns. I accepted the offer of onions on the potatoes. The onions could have been cooked a bit more, in my opinion, but it did add that extra bit of flavour to the home fries. The fries were cubes that were probably pre-boiled and then finished on the flattop grill. They had a bit of crispness on the outside and were soft on the inside. They were a nice change to typical diner home fries. The omelette was okay, with onion and ham. Service was polite, but felt a bit slow.
