2018/08/17The Waterfront Riverpub was a pleasant surprise. We were on our way to meet friends at a cottage, and we stopped in Napanee for dinner. A quick search showed a few choices, and the Waterfront seemed most promising. After we parked in the adjacent lot, we headed down the slope to the entrance, which was actually the entrance to a really nice outdoor terrace, with canopies covering each of the tables. The terrace was large and rectangular, situated between the restaurant building and the river, with tables around the perimeter and a grassy area and garden in the middle. We were told if we waited 5 minutes, we could have a table beside the river, which was fine by us. We started out with a couple of adult beverages. SWMBO had the Vanilla Dream, which was a bit like a creamsicle with vodka. I had a local Waupoos Cider, which was nice and crisp. Then it was on to our dinner. SWBMO picked the Chicken Parmigiana from the Pasta menu. A good-sized chicken breast, breaded and fried until the outside was crispy, with lots of melted mozzarella, sitting atop of a bed of fettuccine with a rose sauce. Nicely done. I went for the simple Fish and Chips, made with Haddock. The batter was relatively light and had a good crunch. Both the fish and the fries were cooked to a golden brown. The tartar sauce was house made and had a yogurt-like smoothness. I liked my meal. So, food was pretty good, service was very good, and scenery was excellent.
Best patio views in Napanee, by far. However, my boyfriend and I ordered the charcuterie and it was terrible; way overpriced, did not come with any gouda as advertised and the crostini’s were so salty they made our mouths hurt. Will return as there are other items on the menu that sound good!

We ordered ravioli with scallops, drunken prawns and Parmesan truffle frites! The food was quite good, great location and set up. The service was rough to start, very rough but once the server changed up and a 20 minute wait at our table it only took 13 minutes for our beverages to arrive and 13 more minutes for the entrees to arrive.
Awesome food, terrible service!
Charming Waterfront Spot. Ambience in restaurant is great, but on a busy night a bit too noisy. Could not eat outside in the charming gazebos as it was too busy. We don’t have large appetites so generally tend to split a dinner with an extra salad. It was presented very well, and the wait staff were efficient and very couteous. Our dinner was split on to 2 plates, which was very nice and appreciated, as we ordered the two piece fish and chip dinner. The fish batter was still slightly runny, and had been piled on top of the chips, which were not crisp to start with and this contributed to making them soggy. Very good value but the quality needs a bit of thought on the part of the chef.
