Terrible experience. Poorly run establishment on all accounts.. A friend was visiting from out of town and we decided to go for breakfast. I had been to Elm Street Cafe once before and had had a decent breakfast, the service was poor but I chalked it up to an inexperienced server and recommended we go there. Immediate regret. Our server took an unusually long time to bring our drinks and take our order. Both my friend and I ordered poached eggs… Instead we got a stringy mess of vinegar flavoured white gunk. I was in shock they would even serve such an atrocity to a customer. Bacon was deep-fried and not pan fried, was highly unimpressed by that. The price you pay for these meals should not give leeway to such laziness. Tea or coffee is an additional 2.50 on top of the ridiculous price. 42 dollars and change for three people to have a basic breakfast is just unacceptable. Getting our bills took far far longer than it should have, at this point though it was no surprise. I only wish I had read the reviews on this restaurant before recommending it to a friend from out of town. It seems to be an ongoing problem with no initiative to change things. I will never return. There are far better establishments in Grimsby I would much rather give my money to. You have to try pretty hard to mess up breakfast this bad.
Will never go back. We are seniors and do not have big appetites. We usually like to order one entree and split it up which means we usually ask for an empty plate. However, we both order our own beverages and we tip the waitress/waiter on the basis of ordering 2 entrees. After we placed our order, the waitress came back and told us the owner was going to charge us $4.00 for the second plate. He said that the reason was that he had to put the extra plate through the dishwasher. We felt this was outrageous so we got up and left. We will definitely not return to this place.
The Greek food is actually very good, it was obvious the the spanokapita was homemade and the Greek salad was spectacular (homemade dressing)
Fantastic Dining Experience. We recently went in for the first time and ordered Lamb. The waitress came over in a timely manner and asked for our drink order which was on our table with in a short period of time. The waitress was pleasant and happy to serve us. The Lamb was some of the best we have ever had and was part of a special menu that night we were there for a Belly Dancing show and dinner. The value was excellent for the evening the Belly Dancer was fantastic and put on a wonderful show for approx 2 shows 40 minutes each. It was nice not to have to drive to Toronto for a dinner and show. If your thinking of going to Elm St Cafe Grill, we would say don’t hesitate it’s excellent food and service.
No people skills. I find the waitresses to be very slow and lacking people skills. I don’t come here often but when I do I always remember why I stopped coming.
Didn’t even get to eat. I took my wife there on a Sunday morning. We waited in line for about 15 minutes.(keep in mind that there was only 2 sets of 2 people ahead of us and half the tables were empty). We waited another 5 minutes I order out drinks which where way over priced, $2.50 for a coffee and $3.50 for a orange juice(freshly squeed it said on menu, right out of a bottle I guess). We then waited 35 more minutes for our waitress to take are order, after we had watched two other tables that came in after us get drinks and order food. We got up and started to leave then the waitress came over and asked us for our order, I said I’ve been waiting almost 50 minutes for her to do that, and I don’t have the time to wait any longer. I gave her $8 for the coffea and juice an left. Worst breakfast I never got I order.
Decent but needs work. Food is good. Service needs work though – pleasant ladies but too slow for the number of tables in the restaurant. I like the place so I’ll come back but warn you that you shouldn’t be in a rush.
