Big ol’ epicurean tease. The whole experience felt like it was leading up to a capital fine dining experience but the entrees are frankly a let-down. Start with the atmosphere, aside from it being a bit chilly, it was a lovely space, very swanky. The items of the week are written up on a chalk-board and everything sounds interesting and enticing, and has a price tag that tacitly implies quality. When the appetizers arrive your anticipation for the main course will continue to mount, the appies we tried were pretty much on point, and the oysters are fresh, quality, and served with all the desired accoutrements. But the main courses were complete botch-jobs for both me and my dining partner. My mushroom tart was unpleasantly overdone and was served with a completely overbearing aioli that totally drowned out the delicate, savory taste of the mushrooms, and my dates stuffed chicken was simultaneously unpalatablely greasy and flavourless. It’s a rotating menu so don’t expect to see these dishes on the menu a month from now, but do expect the chief to handle the nuances of flavors ham-handedly and for a dish composed of creative ideas and fresh, quality, ingredients to be pretty much wrecked with crumby prep and execution.
Stopped here for dinner on Thursday night, and grabbed the last table with no reservation! The place is warm and inviting, and the service matches the atmosphere. We had the whipped goat cheese, crusted cod and a couple of cocktails. Everything was delicious!
Visiting from out of town and stopped for lunch. Loved the decor and the service was friendly and efficient. The buttermilk fried chicken was to die for!
Excellent dining experience!. The varied seasonal menu is great with excellent quality on all selection. The fusion of food proteins with local combined flavours of veggies and spices are not a disappointment. Atmosphere is wonderful with kind and amazing service.
Good marks, not great. Nice decor and atmosphere, good service, reasonably priced with interesting dishes on the menu. Outstanding green salad with goat cheese.Disappointingly small fish portion, and the food was generally too salty. Small bistro tables are unsuitable for dinner. We will give them a try again in a while.
Delightful. Had a wonderful dinner there on their opening night. Great pitcher of Sangria for a hot evening out on the patio. Nice view onto city hall square. We had several apps and a salad. All were delicious, and inspired. Lovely fresh decor inside. What a great addition to the downtown restaurant scene. We’ll be back!
Unbelievable!!!!!. This place is incredible! The atmosphere is super clean and fresh, what an amazing transformation from previous restaurants at this location. The food was as good as the atmosphere, we started with the steam buns and the duck wings and both were out of this word delicious. A 10oz striploin that is so tender it almost melts in your mouth and for less than $30 its a steal. We can’t wait to go back soon and often. Well done!
