Great food. This was our second time at Borealis and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is fresh and the service was great. The atmosphere was great too.
Horrible Service!. This place is awful! Just went here recently with a group of friends and received the worst service. Drinks took 10 mins which wasnt too bad but then food took an hour! The restaurant wasn’t too busy at that time and other tables that got there before us received their food first. No server came to even tell us that it would be awhile or apologize. We didn’t even order anything complicated from the menu. We were all starving by the time our food came. Server didn’t refill our water, didn’t check up on us, and forgot our dessert order. Dirty dishes were sitting on our table for awhile as well. Hostess and food runners were nice at least. My friend also had a nut allergy and the server did not mention that an ingredient in her food had a may contain nuts. Could have had very serious consequences for the restaurant if her reaction got worse. Music was so loud it was hard to have a conversation. Food was pricey for it’s mediocre flavour and taste. We all agreed we are never coming back here again!
Great food!. Went in with a party of 10, service was great considering it was pretty busy when we all arrived. I ordered the burger which was very good, but I’ll have to try the slow cooked duck next time!
I want to like this place. I really do. It is all about local foods after all. But the food is just meh. It needs flavour and passion. It has such potential.
Overpriced and Underwhelming. I have been to Borealis twice and both times I have left feeling ripped off. The only thing that is impressive about the food is the price. The food is mediocre at best. I won’t be going back again.
Cold food, poorly cooked. We’ve been to the restaurant a few times – first times years ago was ok, then next time was awful, I have had a good lunch there twice, was put into the bar one night and was ignored to the point of chasing down staff unrelated to our table to see where our order was – was cold when it came. Gave one more try last Tuesday night – staff was good and attentive but prime rib was unbelievably tough and cold, veggies uncooked (I do like al dente – these were not cooked) mashed potatoes were cold and dry…. ;soup was ok but overpriced. All in all, we will not be back. Sorry – I’ve given enough chances – I want to like it but at least the food could be hot – heat the plates people, it isn’t rocket science!!!!!!
Miss and a miss. I’ve tried this place twice now. The first time it was just open so the ambience was unfinished and noisy. Most recently had the battered pickerel with a teaspoonful of coleslaw and a bed of fries. The coleslaw was tasteless except for some peppery heat. The fries were… fries. But the fish… the fish was absolutely bland; no fresh taste at all, likely prepared from frozen. I had to smother it in tarter, vinegar and salt just to get it past my tongue. It shouldn’t be on the menu. Not going back.
