I thought it had great potential when I walked in. The service and server was good. The corn bread was awful, all I could taste was baking powder. I mentioned it to the server as she said it was because it was gluten free. The menu did not mention it was gluten free.I ordered the chef creation which means they surprise you. What I got was a linguine with tomatos and chicken. I guess I expected something more creative or risky. The two deserts we ordered were also gluten free and very brand. This place made me think it was more interested in being academically accepted then it was about food.
Missing ingredients. My partner and I went to Einsteins last week and were surprised the Chef forgot an ingredient in one of his recipes. On the menu was listed chicken breast rolled in crushed tortilla shell with refried beans and guacamole. My partner ordered a side of salsa for the chicken. Upon receiving the order I thought it looked a little plain. We started to eat when half way through my partner stated that the crushed tortilla had not been rolled on the chicken and was very bland. We asked the waitress about this and she went to the kitchen to check. She came back telling us that the chef had forgotten how to prepare the dish and explained he had just come back from holidays. She took the price of one beer off the bill and apologized. We believe the chef should have come out himself and apologized. Not sure if we’ll go back. Disapointed as we thought Einstein’s was a cut above.
Great service, great food, great value. We went for Lunch mid-week. While it was busy it wasn’t packed. We got a nice table on the patio. I usually don’t like patios, but this one is very nice! The service was very prompt, and the salads and appetizers were superb! The sweet potato soup was fantastic and very flavourful. Everything tasted great, and there were no problems. Inexpensive for the amount and quality of food there. I definitely recommend this place!
The enchilidas (with peaches) are awesome! Their homemade salad dressing is addictive. They also have a bakery that makes the best peanut butter cheesecake. You have to give this place a try.
