  They should call it batter and little bit of chips!. Family and I went for dinner there, aside from the flippant attitude of the girl who served us, when the food came we discovered that the actual amount if fish is microscopic covered in huge amount of batter. On top and of this the chips portion was small. When I mentioned extra chips the girl said you have to buy another portion! Not going there ever again.

  Excellent fish and chips. My fav F&C place! Light fluffy perfect batter, decent chips. Large fish portions (size depends on type: halibut is smaller, haddock larger, salmon in the middle…). The new location in the strip mall just feet north of the original location is much nicer than the original spot — actually has matching chairs and furniture now, neutral subdued but pleasant. Plus it’s now licensed as well.

  This place is not good quantity does not overcome quality! The owners are freaking crazy as well! Reviews are written to express your experience. My experience was not to return!

  Great Place. All you people that have given this restaurant a horrible review should really look again. First, the staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable. The portions are extremely more than any other Fish & Chip restaurant in Guelph, Fergus, Orangeville, Mississauga and Brampton. As I have been involved with a Fish & Chip restaurant in Mississauga for a considerable amount of time (working there, doing the accounting and costing, researching other Fish & Chips restaurants for quality and pricing), and Golden Fish & Chips is exceptional with both quality, size and pricing. In the fish wholesale industry, the last year prices for fish has been on the rise. Also, all the restaurants I have researched the portions, for example Halibut is always ONLY 4 – 5 ozs, whereas Golden Fish & Chips portions are 6 ozs with the prices the same and have not risen in the past year!! If they decide to raise the prices it would not be unreasonable as most restaurants have already raised their prices over the past year. Also, most Fish & Chips restaurants use Yukon Gold potatoes, which are good, but, this restaurant uses a different type of potato and it’s much superior! In conclusion, Golden Fish & Chips restaurant is Awesome! Everyone should try it and write a review so there are NOT just negative reviews.
