At Red Papaya it’s all about the food. Consistently serving up some of the freshest, tastiest curries and thai soups in Guelph they even top many of my favourite restaurants in Toronto in terms of pure flavour and I’m not easy to please. Believe me if you haven’t given these guys a chance yet you are missing out on some really passionate food and if the reviews regarding bad service scare you away consider takeout. I go there on lunch and never wait more than 5 minutes after placing my order for food to arrive. Kudos to the guys in the kitchen there, please don’t change a thing!

Worst service.. I had to wait nearly thirty minutes for a bill for two drinks. Never asked if I wanted food. There was a grand total of six people in the restaurant.

Always like dining here. servers are very nice and food is ok to good. i love their calamari and bubble tea the best as well as their desserts!

The absolute worst. Thai food is my absolute favourite, so I was horrified by just how terrible the food at red papaya was! I went with three friends, and we felt that all of our dishes were served with the same pre-bought cornstarch-filled sauce, gross, and tasted nothing like thai food. The restaurant is huge, in a dead mall, it was dark empty and depressing, the waitstaff were even grumpier than I was, and I was the one eating the gross not-thai food.

Great food for low price. I’m not sure what these other people are talking about. I’ve always had great service at the Red Papaya. I work downtown and frequently come in for lunch. Service is always very fast. However, Friday nights right before a storm game is extremely busy as everyone comes in at the same time and expects to leave at the same time for the game. Therefore the kitchen gets backed up around this time which is completely understandable and my server always lets me know this fact when I sit down. My family and I don’t go to the storm games, so it’s not a problem for us. Lunch service is pretty consistent and relatively fast as it is not too busy. But on Fridays, service ranges in quality. The last few times we came in on a Friday, we had the same server. She remembered us and was wonderfully upbeat and happy. She frequently came back to check on us while honestly answering our questions with great detail. Although as with many other restaurants, there are some not so great servers. The food is priced very reasonable and portions are very filling. I do find that the food is not always consistent. I generally get the drunken noodle and on some days, it is exceptionally good and on other days it is just alright. I guess it varies on the chef that day. Their chicken bites and mushroom caps are fantastic though! For the most part though, Red Papaya is a great family run business and I intend on remaining a customer for a long time to come!

Slow service, but well priced – jugs of a couple discount beers likely the cheapest in town. The cheap beer is what I’ve gone for most of the time… If you are meeting friends before a storm game, can be a good spot for a cold one before hand. On the occassions I’ve had food there it has been alright. I don’t have much experience with Thai foods so I can’t comment too much.
