The vegetarian member of our group was delighted; the rest of us were satisfied. The tempeh Reuben was well-received as was the soup. The grilled cheese sandwich was tasty comfort food, but came with – literally – one tiny lettuce leaf and two shreds of carrot. Unfortunately, the hot chocolate was barely luke-warm.
This is a good place to go if you don’t want meat. I wanted meat so I was disappointed. I guess you just have to know that before you go. We ordered the quesadilla and the spinach dip. Both were good but the service was lacking, and our clothes smelled like the food when we got home.
A little gem in Guelph. Cornerstone has amazing food and a relaxed, cozy atmosphere. It is a vegetarian restaurant, but it will appeal to anyone, the food is made so you don’t even realize you aren’t eating meat. Try the cornerstone club, I swear it tastes like there is bacon in it, but it’s tofu! Their Caesar salad is delicious. Their antijitos are amazing, if you are going to try one thing, try them! They have a set menu but also daily specials. The place is small, so it can get very busy inside. Also they have live music sometimes, hard to believe in such a small place, when that happens it gets VERY busy inside, but its fun because everyone crams inside, tables are pushed together, and people are forced to mingle while enjoying the music – it makes for a fun atmosphere! Don’t be put off by the bad reviews, give Cornerstone a try!
Very disappointed. Cute little cafe, had a nice hipster/student vibe. I was super excited for my bean burger and tomato soup, but what a let down. The burger held together well enough, but lacked toppings and condiments, and was poorly presented; the tomato soup was disastrous, tasted as if they had simply pureed and heated up a can of tomatoes, ineatable! My friend went for the ‘pad thai’ which was not pad thai at all, if they had just called it thai sesame noodles or something, it was okay, but rather salty, and lacking all the key ingredients of a traditional pad. I would never eat there again, overall barely eatable and extremely disappointing.
Family friendly. I bring my kids here at least once a week, and the servers always remember us and are very friendly. The food is all made from scratch ( I know one of the guys who works in the kitchen, so I got the scoop). My one complaint is that the portions tend to vary from time to time, and sometimes the pad thai is spicier than I ask for.Overall, the atmosphere is great, and the staff are very friendly. Also, the chai lattes are fantastic, and they are made with real chai tea, unsweetened.
Best Pad Thai ever. I love this place. The breakfast is so good, you don’t even miss the fact that there isn’t meat. I’m pretty much addicted to the pad thai, and the chickpea walnut wrap is yummy. Also, all of the washrooms are working! Not usually the case at the Cornerstone.Great live music, as well. Wish there was more of it.
Good location. Bad service. Bad food.. I have never been made to feel so unwelcome at a restaurant before. The server was literally frowning when she came over and looked as if I was annoying her simply by being there. She stood there and didn’t say anything, so I rushed to place my order because I felt I was doing her a dis-favour. The pretentiousness of this place is unbearable. Also, the food is bland and has no flavour. I started with a salad that was nice and simple, and then I had the pad thai which was cold and the noodles were stuck together and dry. I could have made it better at home. When I asked for it to be warmed up, I felt like the staff was talking about me as the ‘annoying’ customer, as they glanced over at me all at once. The coffee is good.To me, service is important. To others, it may not be. This place seems as if it is going out of its way to try to be ‘hip’, and can make a regular person like myself feel like I am not cool enough to be there. That in itself makes this a restaurant I will not return to. Also, very poor ventilation makes for no fresh air and means that you will leave here smelling like food for the rest of the day/evening. Not suitable for business meetings.
