I went with my fianc and neither of us were disappointed in our meals, everything was amazing! He had the schnitzel sandwich with an amazing garlic dill sauce. I had the rice balls and apple salad.
Disappointed. Let’s start with the service…they just look miserable when you walk up to the window, and it’s very slow. The food was nothing to write home about, the rice balls I heard so much about were dried out, and I find it hard to believe the sauce is homemade.
My Favourite of the Food Trucks. I have tried a number of the food trucks from Hamilton, Niagara and Toronto. Dobro Jesti is definitely my favourite, and likely be cause I love schnitzel. Growing up partially Italian, my mother used to make breaded veal cutlets and I couldn’t get enough of them, by themselves or on a bun. Well Dobro Jesti does pork or chicken cutlets, and serves them a number of different ways. I am not sure, but the breading on the schnitzel is a combination of breadcrumbs it seems, with one of them being what I believe to be panko. The breading is always very crispy and the meat inside, always very tender. The Hunter comes with sauteed mushrooms and is delicious. The Pepper comes with sauteed peppers, onions and pancetta. These are the two I have always ordered. The Razor looks delicious as well and may be next on my hit list. Knowing that the schnitzel is always perfect and the buns are always fresh, there is no doubt that The Razor will exceed my expectations as well.
Garlic doughnuts. I can’t wait to find this truck again so that I can try more items from the menu. I had the risotto balls, which were excellent – creamy rice with a good cheesy centre – but I have not tried any of the schnitzel, which is of course the main event for Dobro Jesti.What they call ‘Mr. Schnitz’s bits’ are seriously great. Fried dough, a little sweet, tossed in salt and garlic. Flecked with little bits of creamy, melty garlic, and so good that I came very close to getting back in the car and driving back to the site for another order. Or two.
