  I absolutely love this place! one of my 2 fav Italian restaurants in Hamilton. Every dish is made fresh, and staff are friendly.Fettuccine pesto is my favorite dish, its a must try!

  Went here today with my dining group before going to the movies.Atmosphere- you could walk by this place on the street and not notice it was there. It is nicely decorated with 4 types of wine on tap. My husband noted that people with COPD ( lung problems) should not go here because the wood oven made air in restaurant noticeable. It bothered him a bit during dinner.Food- My group ordered mostly mains without dessert because of the movie. They were: 1) Polpette pizza- with meatball meat, spinach, peppers, and onions.- My husband thought it should have had more tomato sauce but the toppings were a great combinations. 2) 3 kinds of calzones- Canadiana, Margherita, and La Diavola. All served with a bowl of delicious tomato sauce. These calzones were large and looked like works of art. One diner said the end of one wasnt fully cooked but the fillings were all wonderful. 3) spaghetti and meatballs with red sauce- excellent meatballs, sauce and pasta cooked perfectly 4) fettuccine alfredo- fantastic. Sauce was like Goldilocks porridge- not too thick, not too thin… Just right! 5) grilled vegetable salad- regular size looked more like large. Great variety of grilled vegetables with a pile of goat cheese. Great salad. 6) panini and soup- no complaints there either. Most everyone took part of their meal home because size was so big for all of it.Service- Waitress was non descript. She took orders and brought food efficiently but revisits were scarce. We had to wave her over for glasses to be filled and checks.Impression- I would not hesitate to go back. I will have to go with friends because my husband wont go again even though food was very good.

  Great food, bad service. I decided to take my boyfriend to Express today for his birthday lunch because he loves Italian food. I’ve been a few times and had good experiences but this was his first time eating there. We both enjoyed our meals (he got carbonara and I got the polo fresco panini/ and a tossed salad), but the server was awful. I wasn’t going to say the service was awful, because our food came out in less than 15 minutes and it was great — but our server looked like she hated being there. She threw our things onto the table and barely talked to us. Talk about a bad attitude. She had her back to us the entire time, talking to the kitchen staff. It seemed like the people working in the kitchen were keeping more of an eye on us than she was. My boyfriend and I debated leaving as soon as we got our drinks because we could already tell we were in for some bad service. I generally sympathize for servers in busy conditions on weekend evenings or if they have a huge table, but there were only 4 tables in total while we were there and it was Friday around 2 pm. I’ll probably go back to Express in the future, but truly hope that the servers get an attitude adjustment. I wish she hadn’t put such a damper on his birthday!

  Great!. Always quick service, the wood oven pizza is some of the best I had! I love the open window they have in the restaurant. And the food is definitely worth the price – so reasonable!
