Lots of hype about this place. Id say it lives up to it. Pretty cool, trendy place. Tacos are off the chain and the cocktails are very good. Extremely busy place. Tried going a second time and gave them my number to text me when table was ready. Still have not gotten a text.
I liked the overall vibe of the place. It was hopping and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Between the fish tacos, curry beef tacos and Taco Bel tacos as well as Calamari, Brussel Sprouts and Baja wings, there wasn’t a miss amongst the lot. The prices seemed reasonable for food and drink. We washed our food down with a $30 pitcher of marguerite. I thought it was a nice place for some casual food and drink. We had no concerns with service.
The food was good. We ordered fish tacos, chicken and pork tacos. Guacamole was nice with some chopped cucumber in it. But, once the food was served i wanted some hot sauce and it was hard to bring attention from any of staff there. Finally I got up and tried to look for one on the bar and nobody bothered to help me. It was very obvious that i was looking for help. A tall woman staff even saw me but wouldn’t care asking me. So i asked her to give me some hot sauce. Last time the service was better. I don’t think i will return to the Mule because of their lack of service.
General Manager drinks during shifts at night behind the bar, as well as other bar tenders… Most staff are great and food is out of this world, but the experience of the place is horribly ruined… Everyone suffers when intoxication is involved…
The decor and ambiance is very cool, hip and trendy. We had started with the ceviche which wasn’t the greatest. In my opinion, I think the whitefish should have been cut into chunks and marinated in a lot more lime. Our entree consisted of 4 different types of tacos. I had the fish tacos – the size of the fish was very generous and covered in batter (which I love) with lots of delicious toppings. It was probably one of the best fish tacos I’ve ever had – and very reasonably priced to boot. Our order came out pretty quicky, which was great as we were starving. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. He chatted with us a bit about some of the local developments that are going to be happening in the area and told us of upcoming events happening at The Mule. Overall a very cool place and Hamilton needs more places like this one!
Definitely a buzzing local establishment that is super active in social media, and seems to broadcast fun. Walking by on a Friday i saw it jammed, so decided to bring the work crew for a Tuesday Taco Night.Overall, everything was ok. Taco’s were decent, regularly sized for today’s taco market. But overall, did not remotely compare to Mezcal for example. The Fish taco’s were ok, but got nothing on The Ship.Between 5 people we sampled a huge portion of the menu, and the consensus was – Ok, but wont come back.Beer selection was top notch, would possibly come in just for a pint.
The BEST fish tacos I’ve ever had!! The Resturant itself is very appealing as well, tasteful decor and great atmosphere. I’d love to visit at night for tacos & TEQUILA!
