This has been our favourite place to order pizza for many years. Over the years we have strayed but come back to Valentinos and fall in love with it again. We typically order a vegetarian pizza with lots of veggies. The service and the quality is consistent. A family tradition!
Still good but not exactly as I remember. I went here with my husband tonight. I ordered the panzaratti with sauce on the side, just like I used to in high school. My husband comes here regularly and he ordered his usual pizza. My panzaratti was fantastic. Full of ingredients . The only thing I didn’t remember was the sauce on the side. It resembled a thick tomato soup concoction. I happen to like tomato soup. I thought I remembered it being like authentic tomato sauce but I was assured it is the same they have served for years. They even sell it by the jar. I think I would prefer an actual Italian sauce instead. My husband’s pizza was a classic and very good. We finished the meal with their famous homemade Gelato – chocolate. It is and always has been awesome! The decor hasn’t changed a bit. I love the Italian vintage cafe posters. They will never go out of style.
40 Years Later-Still Amazing. My family has been coming here since the 70’s, amid all the changes to the decor and menu…the food is still great and the staff is always friendly. Family favourites include: their Caesar salad, penne alla greca, carbonara pasta, seafood risotto, their thin crust pizzas (used to have one called the Californian-amazing), classic lasagna and calzones. Their cheesecake and Napoleons aren’t anything to sneeze at either.
Thin crust pizza. I had occasion to be back in town recently and decided on pizza for dinner.I wasn’t able to identify any particular stars for wood oven pizza (La Cantina was closed) but would settle for thin crust. I was aware of Valentino’s but hadn’t been there for years. Called them up – they promised thin crust. Also, although it wasn’t listed on the menu I asked for a Magarita pizza which they accommodated. Well was I impressed. Nice and thin; a little bit of crispiness. The vegetarian was loaded and credit to them for dicing the veggies small so they would cook thoroughly. The Magarita was very good (didn’t match Salvatore’s of Boston but I’d get it again!). Cost were reasonable considering the result. One four item large, one Margarita medium and four cannoli – $53. I highly recommend Valentino’s if you want thin crust. Also, try the Sicilian Cannoli – outstanding. If only I could find the equivalent in Ottawa!
Good Food, Service Nothing Too Great. I have been to Valentino’s many times, and everytime I go, I usually enjoy it. I have noticed though that the service isn’t as good as it used to be. This location has been in its present place for many years therefore, I assume they are doing well. Tonight was a birthday celebration and when we walked in, we were given a table right away, one that was wobbly and near the door. We then asked to be seated in a booth and were told we were able to. We ordered our appetizers and they took about 10 minutes, pretty long for a salad and calamari. The complimentary bread also took long, which came with our appetizers. I always thought the complementary items should come before the appetizers. Nevertheless, the calamari and salad were good. The server wasn’t very friendly, she didn’t introduce herself and seemed monotone. The pizza and panzerotti then came. The panzerotti was good, however, the pepperoni was somewhat salty. The pizza was good, but they didn’t ask if we wanted ground bacon or sliced bacon, they automatically but on the ground bacon. Most pizza places I go to ask what type of bacon you want on your pizza. It was good meal, but the service does need work. The servers all look as though they don’t want to be there, they are very monotone and don’t bother to make small talk with the customers. I would be back for the food, but not for the service.
