Went to Montfort on Brant in Burlington tonight, have been there many times. This time was a hot mess and we ended up leaving! Two of us ordered the shwarma and beer special that was advertised on the poster beside us. Looked good. Before I got a chance to order my own food, their meals were plunked down on the table. They sure didn’t look like the poster as it didn’t include veggies, the garnish or any of the sauces. In fact, we mentioned that to one of the waitresses and she flippantly informed us that the poster is like McDonald’s – it always looks better in the picture – and she walked away. At this point I still hadn’t even ordered! I finally got a chance to order and when we asked the staff to keep the two shwarma warm until my order arrived, they put them on the counter, but not under the heat lamp. And there they stayed…cold shwarma. We talked to the staff, told them that we were leaving and why, and they were kind of indifferent. It’s a shame because all they really needed to do was apologize and fix it. Perhaps some fresh shwarma? I felt bad for original waiter as he was attentive enough, but the kitchen staff and the waitress we spoke to just didn’t seem to care. So we didn’t care to spend our money there and won’t be back.

The food when we got it home however was fantastic.We had lentil soup – which was super tasty. They clearly know their middle eastern food, as it was served with a lemon to squeeze into the soup – which is a very traditional and authentic way of eating it.We had the fatoush salad – it was delicious. Couldn’t complain at all. And hummus, pretty standard but again – delicious.For the main we had lamb chops – which was tasty, but a bit small and dry by the time we go it home. Probably not the best thing to order for takeout. Regardless, I’d highly recommend the restaurant. I’m a huge fan of middle eastern food, and this didn’t disappoint. thechefandthedish.com
