My rating is based on fun & entertainment, as we’ve never eaten here. We go for the beer, local entertainment and all around no-fuss, non-pretentious atmosphere. A simple and fun place to hang in Wellington West. No one seems to mind if you stand smushed together because there’s no more room to sit, too. We love ya, Danny-O’s!
Cute little pub, stopped in for a quick lunch bite. Caesar was perfect. Service quick and friendly without being fake, and food hot and fresh. I ordered the special soup and sammie and it was in front of me before I could finish my Caesar. Reuben on rye w beef noodle soup. Everything delicious, though I found the soup a tad salty. I am picky that way. The live music advertised would be fun, just like in Ireland, the lack of a stage and small space would make it fun. Might make the trip in to check it out!This place isn’t fine dining, but that’s exactly what I was looking for. 15 for lunch including Caesar soup sandwich tip. Not too shabby. I will be back.
Good local w/music. I guess i have been missing out on the free beer when you play. I want back pay. lolService issue has been taking care of from the looks of it. Its a great local pub, nothing fancy, great pints of Guinness (even if too pricey). And there is music almost every night. And no hippsters there…thank the lord.
Great neighborhood pub. Daniel O’Connell’s is a great little pub. The staff are friendly and down to earth, and treat their many regulars almost like family. There is live music performed almost every night. The food and drink prices are very reasonable. You can even order breakfast until 3pm.
Awesome service. I am not sure what the guys problem is below, but the service and atmosphere is great during open stage night on Wednesdays. Why should the bartender give your friend a free beer? Is he too cheap to pay for his own? If you cannot afford to drink don’t go out, and not too many open stage’s give a free drink. As far as I am concerned, that is like going to a place where pop refills are free and only one person pays for the pop and let’s his / her friend drink from it. Give me a break buddy, I am sure there is more to the story than what you are saying.
The staff are friendly the service is great! The music is really the draw to this place. Attracting the finest Ottawa has to offer. Live music almost every night 🙂 don’t let the size fool you, it’s packed to the fullest with passion and soul! Mondays boast the finest, most captivating artist wandering the streets of Ottawa! Beer for breakfast!. My friend Amanda and I like to frequent this greasy spoon for beer breakfast on weekends. The service is great – friendly & casual. I love eating out, and I like great food, but I find most of the restaurants in this town have one or the other, and very few have both : Friendly service AND Great Food. With the execption of ZenKitchen, and perhaps the Wellington Gastropub, I find places offering both few and far between.but I digress. Daniel O’connells is a hole in the wall. They share a kitchen with Fil’s diner, so you can get breakfast until 3pm, and lunch starts around 11 or 12 as well.the menu is nothing to write home again. the real reason we go here is for 1. friendly service2. beer with breakfastThis is also a great watering hole at night with some great & fun live local talent (you can’t get much more friendly or fun than Dan Baker)
