It’s alright is how I would describe this place. I ordered the soup of the day and the Mediterranean Salad. The soup was chicken vegetable and was tasty but such a skimpy portion for 5.99$. My salad was huge and filling but got repetitive after a few bites. My mother and brother ordered the Ruben sandwich and a burger respectively. Not worth the drive but is good if you want diner/pub food in the Westgate area.
Meh. They could be so much better.. First of all, their website desperately needs to be updated. It makes them look like the feel about the restaurant, well, the same way I do. The food is overpriced and very mediocre. It would be nice if they had a gluten-free menu, but that seems too much to ask from such a below-average place. I want to like it, and I feel like I would if they put in a bit more care and effort.
I have eaten at Monkey Joe’s twice now and that is 2 times too many. The 1st time I had a club sandwich and fries. The 2nd time I had chicken fingers and onion rings. Both were about $13. The club sandwich was worse than the sandwiches you buy at convenience stores – you know the ones that sit on the freezer shelf for days. The french fries were average. The chicken fingers weren’t bad but won’t bring me back. Based on the taste of the onion rings, I would guess the Monkey Joe’s cooking procedure is to only use freezer-burned onion rings, deep fry them, have them sit in the basket above the fryer for at least 15 minutes then place under warmer for another 10. Yuck!
Best Nachos. I stopped by Monkey Joe’s after I found myself craving some of their famous nachos. I haven’t been in quite sometime, so I was impressed when I first walked in to see the newly renovated atmosphere. The bar looks awesome, very sharp looking with a nice feel. Definitely will be coming back more often to enjoy a nacho and watch some hockey at the bar.
Definitely fhe worst meal I have ever had. My husband and I ordered fish and chips at a cost of $15.99 per meal. The fish was awful. Seemed like it had been a freezer for over a year. Way too much breading and the fish was not fresh. The coleslaw looked like it had been made over a month ago so I was afraid to eat it. The French fries were fine. That means I paid $15.99 per meal for French fries. I told the waitress that I could not leave a tip and asked her to pass our comments to the manager and cook!? I think its time to call in Chef Ramsay. It was definitely the worst meal I have ever tried to eat. I will NOT be going back to this restaurant ever.
Maybe the worst meal I have ever had. Very low quality food, and so was the service.I felt as if I was a burden to them. The hostess rudely escorted us to our table, and threw the menues on the table. My quesadilla was trenched in greese. However my boyfriends nachos were okay… but definitly not worth the 1h30 wait…oh, and not to mention she screwed up our bill. This was the worst meal and restaurant eperience I ever had.SAVE YOURSELF THE TRIP
Horrible service, we had to ask to order drinks, food and extra cutlery. Our server ignored us all night until we were her only table and then when she got another table we were ignored again. I was told I was doing the restaurant a favor when I asked to pay my bill first when my 6 month old was getting a little fussy because we had been there for almost 3 hours because of the horrible and slow service. I will never ever return nor will I ever recommend this restaurant to anyone even though the food was good.
