My daughter and I had a perfectly satisfying lunch here on a chilly Saturday afternoon. It isn’t fancy, but sometimes a bowl of vermicelli with piping hot spring rolls is all you need to make you happy. The serving wasn’t huge, but that’s not a bad thing. We will be back! quietfish.com
I have been here a few times. I found their pho wasn’t anything special. Their grilled meat on vermicelli is a relatively small portion compared to other Vietnamese places, and the flavour was nothing special. Their springrolls, for a place called springroll house, was average at best. The service has always been good, and friendly however. But overall, I wouldn’t bother going back, not would I specifically recommend it. If you’re looking for ‘average’ Vietnamese food, it isn’t a bad place. But I prefer to find the exceptional places.
Sure thing !. Been there over 20 times. Best pho in town by far. Great service, always! Tried most items on menu, never disapointed.
Family favourite. I have been going here with my family for the past 10 years;it is easily a family favourite! Together, we have tasted probably most of the items on the menu! My personal favourite is #55 chicken which is a chicken stirfry with mixed vegetables over rice. I also love the lemongrass vermicelli with grilled shrimp! Their Pho is very flavourful yet can be a little salty. I usually order # 42 which is mixed seafood and I ask for extra veggies. The service is prompt and always with a smile. They do know our family by now since i is our go-to when we are too tired (lazy) to cook. Try the spring rolls # 4 (pork) with the nuoc nam sauce. Crispy, hot and delicious! If you are in HIntonburg and are craving Vietnamese food, give it a try!
Best Pho EVER!!!. I have been going to many pho places over the last 20 years and by far this is the best place in Ottawa ever! The staff are fantastic and the food is some how even better! It is my favorite place to grab a phenomenal bowl of pho all year round! Also the aquarium is a nice touch. The place is so good it should have t-shirts now!
Super friendly staff, simply decorated and delicious food! Came here with my partner on a date and it was definitely worth it 🙂 We had the lemongrass tofu with vermicelli, the vegetables/tofu with sate sauce, and the eponymous spring rolls (veggie). All were well balanced, spiced perfectly, and we barely had to wait for the food. Recommend a visit!
Unsatisfying. We got take out from there on a Saturday night, and ordered fried veg spring rolls, friend pork spring rolls, the vermicelli with chicken stir-fried in lemon grass, and rare beef + slightly fatty beef pho. The spring rolls were okay, although very browned, so I figured they may have been left in the deep fryer for a bit too long, but the taste was very good although, not out of this world. The pho (which was my partner’s order) was very good; the broth was tasty, although some of the beef was a bit overcooked and dry. And now to the extremely terrible part of the meal (which, coincidentally, was my entree): the vermicelli was like eating barely seasoned and sauced spaghetti from a grocery store package with THE driest chicken I’ve ever had in my life. At first bite, I thought the chicken (which included both dark and white meat) was turkey left over from last year’s Thanksgiving. I added some of the pho broth to my vermicelli, and some sriracha sauce before I completely gave up after a few bites. It was really disappointing, given the reviews I’ve seen left here. Although the order was completed and ready to be picked up quickly (10 minutes), I would’ve waited much longer for a meal that was worth it. This just wasn’t it.
