Nothing special, basically East Side Mario in the dark. The dinning area was so dark we had to use phone as flashlights just to read the menu. Waitress agreed with us about the poor lighting. Menu is full of Italian staples, appetizers selection is a bit weak. More than one of us had a hard time finding something appealing one the menu.Overall a bit below average.
I had Dinner with my wife and sister at Fratelli’s Kanata yesterday at 5:30pm. We had reservations. It was a good thing as the place was approx. 70% full. We ordered one Calamarie which was lightly floured and deep fried. Very tasty, light, and a generous portion which we all shared. two Misto salads which was fresh mixed greens, olives, tomatos with a red wine vinigrette dressing which complemented the salad well. My sister and I each had the Penne Diavola, a generous portion of sliced Italian sausage, onions, diced tomato, and a not too spicy tomato sauce on al dente Penne pasta. My wife had the homemade lasagna. Also a very generous portion, all the food was delicious and served hot. Our wine was a red Heba / Fattoria Di Magliano. We stayed for 3 hours during which the place became 100% full and very noisy, making for difficult conversation, but a very nice dining experience overall. Service and server were pleasant, and we were not rushed at any time. Cost was approx. $210.
I just had my Birthday celebration tonight and my chicken gorgonzola was absolutely terrible…I had a hard time actually cutting the chicken… and eating it was like chewing rubber!!! I did replace it with pizza which was pretty okay…I didn’t receive any compensation whatsoever…not even a complimentary Birthday dessert…I ate alone as my friends had already finished their meals by the time I had my pizza…just can’t believe the customer service… I sure won’t be going back…my friends and I can’t believe they didn’t offer a simple gesture!
I wish the website allows me to give a 0 score. We went to a restaurant called Fratelli in Kanata today on a Friday night. First one fork is full of food residual and then the waiter let us wait for a long time without serving us anything. In the end, he broke accidentally our take out boxes. We didn’t give tips for such unpleasant experience for those reasons. And when we are about to leave, he stopped us, harassed us and being angry with us. He treated us very impolitely saying stupid Chinese, and being racial since we were the only Chinese. We reported to the manager, and he refused to apologize to us as he said he is a family member of the restaurant’s owner. And the manager just told us to never come again to their restaurant.We reported this case to consumer protection Ontario and Ottawa public health.Our concern is the food safety in the restaurant and the waiter being rude and racial. live in the neighbor hood near this restaurant and we will try everything to fight for such a case in order to keep our community being healthy.
My husband and I enjoyed our anniversary dinner here last night! We both started with the Caesar salad which was cool and fresh. The dressing was delicious! My husband thought it was a bit ‘too anchovy’ We were also served Italian bread with oil and vinegar.We each had a wood fired pizza. I had the Juventio- sooo tasty! The pizza dough is light and crisp on the outside My husband enjoyed the Enzo. He especially liked the spicy salami. He said it added ‘a little something extra’For dessert we shared the Nutella cake. I’m going to say it was ‘okay’ the brownie was a bit dry. The Nutella sauce is warmed and poured overtop the warm brownie. Then topped with chocolate ice cream. I thought the Nutella would have been in the brownie. Anyway, a little something sweet at the end of the meal is always nice Overall, we would definitely come back!
Disappointing. We made an early reservation on a Friday night but clearly were expected to vacate quickly. Everything felt rushed… the waitress didn’t make us aware of the specials, mains served at lightspeed and barely were the desserts served before the bill appeared magically without us requesting it. Food was palatable but uninspired, especially the Roma tomato sauce which didn’t impress. I hope the staff feel proud that they managed to get our table of five sat and out the door in 1hr 20m! Not the relaxed special occasion we were looking forward to!
