Im pretty disappointed with Hockey Sushi. Weve been a number of times but I dont think well be going back. There are two big problems that they have to address in order to win back my business. On a positive note, the food is fresh and tasty. But the problems really need to be addressed. The first is the confusion on the part of the wait staff. Our nickname for this restaurant is screw-it-up sushi. Every time weve gone, they have gotten our order wrong. An occasional mistake is understandable, but multiple mistakes every visit is kind of hard to believe. On more than one occasion the waitress has argued with us – its one thing to screw up, its quite another to argue about it. The second issue is even more aggravating and has my partner and I firmly committed to never going again. We arrived at 9 pm on a Thursday night. The posted hours say that the restaurant is open till 10 pm. We were greeted and told that last call was 9:30. We werent happy but chose to stay. What happened next was awkward and very unpleasant. The waitresses and kitchen staff got into an argument that concluded in in us being informed that we had ten minutes to order our meal as last call was at 9:15. It was rude and unprofessional. Although I can understand a last call 15 minutes before closure, I cannot understand one 45 minutes before closure. Nor can I understand an argument in front of paying customers about service. If you post business hours you should be prepared to abide by them. If youre not then change the posted hours to reflect the fact that you are only willing to serve till 9 pm. And, for the love of Pete, train your staff to get the orders right.
