Nice atmosphere, awesome service, and good food. It’s hard to get a table without a reservation! The pizzas are big, so it’ll fill you up! The only thing that bothered me from here is that both times I went, I felt super cold whenever someone walked in through the door. As this is a very popular place, it was very frequent that people walked in and out trying to get a table. The bottom of couple of our pizzas were burnt…so we had to scrape off the black parts but the waittresses who saw us doing that didn’t do anything to come over and check on us…I’d recommend Woodenheads or Score pizza

Went here last night for dinner with my husband and mother in law. Was excited to try another Black Dog establishment since all the other ones I’ve been to were fabulous. The meal started out well, with quite possibly the best Mojito I’ve ever had. The Risotto ball appetizer was delicious, and the marinara to die for. I ordered the Fettuccine, husband had the Italian job pizza, and my MIL had the gnocchi. Their meals were dynamite, however my pasta was so al-dente that I had to send it back. It was sticking in my teeth it was so undercooked. Our server offered me another Mojito on the house while I waited and it was delicious! Sadly, the second round of pasta was cooked only slightly more, and I spent most of my time pulling out pieces (three to four stuck together) and leaving them to the side trying to find edible bites. The sauce, mushrooms, herbs, and chicken were absolutely delicious but the pasta was terrible. I was shocked that a restaurant which put so much time and effort into all the other details dropped the ball on the backbone of the dish! Perhaps I should have sent it back again, but I didn’t want to sit for another hour and eat while my family watched lol. May go back, but may not.

The pizza here is pretty good. I have been a couple of times now and I like to try a new one every time. Some of them were excellent, and some were just okay. The Bruschetta though, I find, never disappoints.

Great pizza, great drinks, great service and overall a nice atmosphere. We had a nice night here and were able to get an 8 o clock reservation on short notice.

Worthy of a larger city. Atomica is one of the few restaurants in Kingston that would actually do well in a bigger city. In the past, the restaurant scene in Kingston is generally pretty weak and downtown Kingston has punched well below its weight for a a town with its population and for the wealth of local food production. This started to change with Chez Piggy and Pan Chancho, but the Black Dog group have really accelerated the process – Atomica, Chien Noir, Harper’s and Dianne’s have all made a major difference to the quality of what’s available in Kingston. As for Atomica itself, it’s chic but not pretentious and has become a regular place for me. The lighting and general ambience have the feeling of a cool Toronto enighbourhood Italian, and the cooking is predictably good. Despite what some claim for the Woodenheads with its ridiculous toppings and impossible-to-hear-yourself-speak noise levels, Atomica’s is by far the best Neapolitan-style pizza in Kingston – which isn’t saying much, but it’s still true. The bases are thin, crisp and light and the toppings are thoughtful and make good use of local ingredients. Pasta is also done properly. The drinks menus is also well-selected and the cocktails are worth a trip in themselves, especially at Happy Hour. If there’s one criticism I have, it’s that the salads make too much use of candied ingedients (especially pecans), which just makes them over-sweet and unhealthy. With nuts or seeds, just roast them lightly: the flavours are quite enough.

Casual Fine Dining. Atomica presents a consistent gourmet product, good service, all in a causal setting. Appropriate for all ages, and welcoming to all. I would suggest calling ahead for a table, though the staff are always accommodating and not quick to turn patrons away. Atomica also has a nice selection of craft beers!
