Captain geoges fish and chips. I had the haddoch and chips last Wed. when they opened in Brockville and it was delicious then I had 1 piece of haddoch today and it was so greasy I could not eat it the worst fish I have had.I won’t be going back. There is no quality control I saw a teenager cooking today so much for another bad restaurant.28 May, 2014Brockville Fish and Chips Captain George’s. Just opened today and I had to try it, it was the best I have tasted as good as the U.K. Light and flaky and better yet the fish is from Canada and the U.S. not China. Service was friendly and fast.I give it a 10 out of 10.
Quite simply the best fish Ive had in my life. The young man is One of the fastest cooks I’ve seen and the food still comes out amazing! Great friendly servers too I have nothing bad to say about captain georges.
Take out. We have just had cod and chips from Captain George’s in Kingston. We will be back!! They were the nicest fish and chips we have had in Kingston. Reminded me of home (U.K.) The chips were lovely and the fish was well cooked and the batter was nice and light and not greasy at all (not like some that are thick and soft). Congrats!!!
Amazing. Captain George is a fantastic place to get fish and chips. We need more businesses that do everything right the way they do. When I first walked in I was asked whether I was getting take-out or a seat. Immediately you feel welcomed, they acknowledge you and you know they aren’t ignoring you. They have seating area for people waiting for take-out. This was a pleasant surprise as I’m used to standing around and waiting for my food. And it was quick too! They ask for your name so the orders don’t get messed up and they actually call you by your name. It was caught off guard by that and realized that no restaurant has ever bothered to ask before. They give tons food, the fish is amazing, and it’s in a paper bag and a plastic bag so it’s easy to carry. The paper bag helps to absorb some of the grease so you aren’t pulling out greasy containers. Each box is wrapped with an elastic with the bill on it so you can’t lose it. And they even ask you what condiments you want so you aren’t begging for them or wasting the default ones. And the best part of all, I realized I had no knife and fork at work. There, in the bottom of the bag was a plastic knife and fork. Everything about this place is done perfectly.Kudos to all the staff, manager(s) and owner(s) for running a great restaurant. Will definitely recommend to my friends and buy lunch more often from Captain George.
Great Food Great Service. I ordered the haddock take out special. As a big eater I ordered the 2 piece hoping it would be enough and I was stuffed! The fish was amazing, and chips were delicious. At around $14, pretty standard for fish and chips it was well worth it!
Disappointed. I tried the Halibut and chip dinner, and it was disppointing to say the least. The fish was actually tough, as in hard to chew, and very bland. I think this is the first and last time I will be trying Capt George’s. Probably the worst fish I have ever eaten.
Very solid and standard fish and chips… Fries were thick cut and tasty, and came with malt vinegar for take out which is always a plus!!
