Disappointing, very over-rated. I’m honestly quite perplexed with the vast majority of the reviews on this site and others because I found Curry Original to be underwhelming and disappointing in general. Venue wise, the restaurant is beautiful with it’s stone walls and exposed rafters. The vast majority of the servers were warm and attentive, but our server was relatively cold compared to the others. My cousin and I both ordered the dal which was unrecognizable to any dal that I have ever had at an Indian restaurant or made myself. I understand that dals vary considerably by region, but their dal is watery without any spice or substance. It tastes mostly of lemony chicken broth. No hint of cumin, cardamom, onion, ginger, cinnamon (or any combination of spices period.) or even a speak of lentil. I then had the vegetable curry which was clearly made with frozen vegetables (green beans, lima beans, green peas) and the occasional potato chunk or baby carrot. The curry was also very one-note and bland. The naan and papadums were nice, but nothing that I found noteworthy. I will not be returning to this restaurant, despite its gorgeous setting, as I found the food to be incredibly bland and overpriced.

Mediocre.. I love Indian food and have been to many great Indian spots around Canada and the US. This is not one of them. I’m not sure how it stacks up to other Indian restaurants in the area, but I found the food pretty average — tasted fine, but nothing to come running back for. The lunch portion was also a bit on the small side.

Yum!. Great food….enough said! Staff were great and very friendly, refreshing;)

Pretty good. I haven’t been to many Indian restaurants, but this place was pretty great! The food was boldly flavoured, and service was quick. The only complaint I have is how dimly lit the place is. I know it’s for atmosphere, but I think it’s a little overboard, and it actually hurt my eyes.

Friendly…but. Now overpriced and i think over rated. I used to go all of the time but after a bad experience on New Year will probably not return. Very sad as I had always enjoyed the food and the staff are good. The prices have gone up and would be worth it had the quality not dropped slightly. Shame really.

Delicious. I ordered Bombay Aloo and my friend the butter chicken. All the food came by really fast so it’s probably not made to order. But the taste of both dishes was exquisite. I was closing my eyes in deliciousness. The food is overpriced for what you get but I didn’t even mind.
